HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987_04_28 Town Board Special Minutes r i J 3 1 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK HELD ON THE 28TH DAY OF APRIL, 1987 IN THE COUNCIL ROOM OF THE WEAVER STREET FIREHOUSE, WEAVER STREET, TOWN OF MAMARONECK, NEW YORK CONVENE SPECIAL MEETING The Special meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners was called to order by Acting Chairman Thomas R. Amlicke at 7 : 10 pm in the Council Room. Present were the folowing members of the Commission: Commissioner Thomas R. Amlicke Commissioner Lawrence A. Lerman Commissioner Stephen C. Chapin Also present were: Patricia A. DiCioccio, Town Clerk Carol A. Acocella, Deputy Town Clerk Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator William McDermott, 2nd Deputy Chief Louise Ludecke, Chairman of Election CALL TO ATTENTION - Location of Exits As required by law for public gatherings, Commissioner Amlicke pointed out the location of exits to those assembled. Commissioner Amlicke asked Mr. Altieri to brief the Board on the procedures. Mr. Altieri explained that the Chairman of the Election will formally report to the Board the results of the special election at which time the Board will official accept the results. He stated that the Board had already adopted the resolution in March to authorize the borrowing of funds . Mrs. Ludecke presented the results. She stated that there were a total of 65 votes cast, 54 in favor of purchasing the fire truck and 11 against with no voided ballots. On motion by Commissioner Lerman, seconded by Commissioner Chapin, the results of election were accepted. U Ua`Mousk q Mr. Altieri explained to the Board that a resolution was needed to declare Engine 37 as surplus and to give the fire department the authority to sell it. Thereafter, on motion by Commissioner Lerman, seconded by Commissioner Chapin, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the Town Board does hereby declare Fire Engine 37 surplus equipment and authorizes that the Town sell said engine. Commissioner Chapin questioned the method of sale. Mr. Altieri answered that it would be sold through sealed bid. Chief McDermott stated that they would advertise the engine in fire department related periodicals. Notices would be given to Mr. Altieri' s office to print up in legal form. 191 April 28 , 1987 Commissioner Chapin asked what the estimate was for the value of engine 37. Chief McDermott stated that he hoped between $2 ,000 and $3,000 . Commissioners Chapin and Lerman asked if engine 37 could be put to some other uses, such as in a playground, use for training or salvage value. Chief McDermott explained that there are too many hazardous things on the truck to be used in a playground and insurance rates would go up if we kept the truck for training. ADJOURNMENT On motion by Commissioner Lerman, seconded by Commissioner Chapin, it was unanimously resolved that the meeting be adjourned at 7 :30 pm. Patricia A. DiCioccio Town Clerk II 1
