HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924_05_14 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECR held, May 14th, 1924. - The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 10:15 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Collins & Shafer, Town Clerk Sherman, Counsellor Gamble. Upon motion duly seconded, it was voted to dispense with the reading of minutes of meetings not yet approved. Supervisor Burton reported that in accordance with the provisions of the Building Code, he had appointed Mr.Robert Carrick, Building Commissioner for the Town of Mamaroneck, the same to take effect as of May first. A communication from the Board of Appeals was received and read, recommending to the Town Board that the appeal of Leslie T. Nichols to erect a one-family residence on the east side of Valley Road, seventy-five feet south of Glen Road, with- in thirty feet of the street line be granted and the decision of the Building Commission be reversed, provided that said house be . erected according to the plot plan submitted with the application. Whereupon the following resolution was unanimously adopted: WHEREAS, the Board of Appealm have re- commended to the Town Board that the appeal of Leslie I. Nichols to erect a one-family residence on the east side of Valley Road, seventytfive feet south of Glen Road, within thirty feet of the street line be granted and the decision of the Building Commission be reversed, provided that said house be erected, according to the plot plan submitted with the application, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Town Board pursuant to Article 15, Section 26 of the Town Law, hereby consents to and confirms the action of the Board of Appeals in re- versing the decision of the Building Commission. A communication from the Mamaroneck Post, American Legion was received and read, inviting the Town Board to partic- ipate in the exercises on Memorial Day. The Invitation was ac- cepted and the Clerk was directed to so notify the Commander of the Post. Mr. Michael Doherty appeared before the Board and pre- sented a petition signed by property owners of the Dillon Park section, requesting the changing of the Zoning Ordinance affect- ing the property at the corner of Boston Post Road and Premium River Road from an "A" District to a 18011 district . The matter was referred to the Board of Appeals for their recommendation: A communication from the District Committee of the Boys Soouts was received and read requesting the keeping of a small wagon in the basement of the Town Hall. The matter was -$- left in the hands of the Town Clerk and it was the sense of the meeting that the Board will do all possible to help the Boy Scouts. The Clerk stated that the flag pole at the Village Square needed repainting and it was Voted that the matter be left in the hands of the Clerk with authority to have same attended to. The condition of the cemetery grounds was brought to the attention of the Board andit was Voted that the matter be left with the Clerk who was authorized to have the grounds cleaned. The Clerk brought to the attention of the Town Board the matter of the appropriation for the observance of Memorial Day in accordance with Law, whereupon the following resolution was offered, which upon ROLL CALL, was unanimously adopted: RESOLVED, that there be appropriated a sum not exceeding $100.00 under the pro- visions of Section 136 of the Town Law for the purpose of defraying the ex- penses for the proper observance of Memorial Day, which amount shall be levied, assessed and collected in the same manner as other expenses of said Town are levied, assessed and collected.
