MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEET= OF THE
TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK
HELD ON THE 7TH DAY OF JANUARY 1989
IN CONFERENCE ROOM A AT THE TOWN
CENTER, 740 WEST BOSTON POST ROAD,
MAMARONECK, NEW YORK
CONVENE SPECIAL MEETING
Supervisor Battelle called the meeting to order at 9:15 a.m.
Present were the following members of the Board:
Supervisor Dolores A. Battelle
Councilman Stephen C. Chapin
Councilwoman Elaine Price
Councilman John McGarr
Also present were:
Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator
The Supervisor indicated that the meeting was a work session on
the strategic plan being prepared by the Town Board.
1. The Board reviewed the recreation policy drafted several
months earlier and discussed various revisions. By general
consensus it was decided that a final draft of the recreation
policy be prepared within the coming week.
2. The next item discussed was the land-use policy of the
strategic plan and various revisions to be included in the
draft policy. The Board decided that, at the next work
session, they would discuss specific tasks to be accomplished
under the land-use policy.
3. The Board then enumerated the following other areas to be
discussed under the strategic plan: departmental
reorganization, public works and essential services,
alternative sources of revenue, and the process by which the
strategic plan would be reviewed each year.
4. The Board specifically discussed the area of public works and
essential services, with the definition of public works to
include maintenance of infrastructure, i.e., roads,
sidewalks, sewers, etc., and to services provided by the
Highway Department such as snow removal and leaf collection.
The Board decided to prioritize the services provided by the
public works department as well as to give precedence to
other services provided by the Town government.
The Town Board agreed that the above-referenced matters would be
discussed in further detail at the following work session which is
scheduled for January 14, 1989.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
meeting was unanimously declared adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
Respectfully submitted, Patricia A. DiCioccio
Town Clerk
