HomeMy WebLinkAbout1923_10_01 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK held October 1st, 1923. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 8.30 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor George W. Burton, Justices Boyd, Collins, Shafer, Town Clerk Sherman. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was voted to dispense with the reading of the minutes not yet approved. Supervisor Burton stated that the first order of business was the reading of the notice inviting bids to construct, equip and deliver an automotive hook and ladder fire truck and apparatus to be used by the Weaver Street Fire Company No. 1. Upon Motion duly made and seconded, the Clerk was request- ed to read said notice. The Clerk having read said notice upon motion duly made and seconded, it was RESOLVED, that the notice to bidders be and the sane hereby is approved. Upon duly made and seconded, it was RESOLVED, that the bids received pursuant to said notice be now opened. The Town Clerk proceeded to open and read each of the bids received, all of which were accompanied by a certified check in the required amount and are as follows: 1. International Motor Company, 4 cy., $9,275.00 AC-5b, 74 hp. " 7,995.00, AB-5b, 45 hp. Less 3% for cash 2. Woodhouse Mfg. Co., 4 cy., 8,750.00 55 hp. " " " 6 cy., 9,750.00 110 hp. 3. Stutz Motor Company 6 cy., 9,800.00 62.4 hp. " " " 4 cy., 9,600.00 52.9 hp. " " " 4 cy., 7,500.00 40 hp. Less 5% 4. American La France Fire Engine Company 6 cy., 10,000.00 72 hp. 5. The White Company, 4 cy., 8 ,330.00 50 hp. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that this Board go into ex- ecutive session to tabulate and consider the bids received. The Board reconvened at 9. 30 o'clock P.M. The Supervisor stated that the Board had considered all bids received and was ready to make the award. Upor. rriotion by Justice Shafer, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was unanimously resolved that WHEREAS, American La France Fire Engine Co. Inc. having bid to construct and equip in accordance with certain specifications on file with the Town Clerk of the Town of Mamaroneck six cylinder automotive hook and ladder fire truck and apparatus far the sum of $10,000.00 less the sum of $200.00 by way of allowance pursuant to notice to bidders dated September 17, 1923, said bid complying in all respects with said notice and this Board being of the opinion that it would be for the best in- terests of the Town of Mamaroneck to accept the same. NOW, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED, that the said bid of said Amer- ican La France Fire Engine Company, Inc. be and the same hereby is accepted and the contract to construct, equip and deliver said six cylinder automotive hook and ladder fire truck and apparatus for the sum of $9800.00 in accordance with the specifications prepared for that purpose and filed with the Town Clerk of this Town is hereby awarded to said American La France Fire Engine Company, Inc., and be it further RESOLVED, that the Clerk be directed to return to the unsuccessful bidders their respective checks upon filing proper receipts therefor, and be it further RESOLVED, that counsel be requested to prepare a contract to carry the above into effect and that the Supervisor and Town Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to execute the same on behalf of the Town of Mamaroneck, and be it further RESOLVED, that counsel be requested to prepare and cause to be published, a notice for the sale of bonds, the proceeds of which are to be used for the payment of said hook and ladder fire truck and apparatus, and that October 22, 1923 at 8.30 o 'clock P.M., at the office of the Town Clerk be and they hereby are fixed as the time and place for receiving bids therefor.
