In the absence of Supervisor Burton, the meeting was called to order by Justice Boyd at 8.45 P.M. PRESENT: Justices Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer Town Clerk Sherman Counsellor Gamble. The report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month of April 1923 was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as follows : May 1st, 1923. The police report for the month of April was received and read, showing 44 arrests and fines collected amounting to $625. The report was ordered received, noted in the minutes and placed on file. Dear Sir: I beg to submit herewith the report for the month of April 1923 of fees collected and permits issued in this office during said period: Dog licenses issued 1 $.25 Lost tags " 3 .75 Marriage licenses " 11 11.00 Forward 12.00 Chattel mortgages filed 51 $5.78 Building hermits issued 21 ) Alteration " " 1 ) 209.00 Explosive " " 3 ) Q Occupancy applications 4 ) Street opening permits 7 120.00 Total amount collected $346.78 Enclosed find check covering the above amount. Mr. Arthur Johnson representing the New York Inter Urban Water Company appeared before the Board and served the Board with claims of the New York Inter Urban Water Company and the City of Mount Vernon against the Town of Mamaroneck in the in-. junction proceedings of the Town of Mamaroneck and the Village of Pelham against the New York Inter Urban Water Company. Upon motion duly seconded, it was VOTED that the papers be referred to Special Counsel J. Henry Esser. The Clerk reported that the assessment maps had been changed and altered to quite some extent, and that he thought and had been advised by the Board of Assessors that it would be to the best interests of the Town to have the assessment maps corrected and brought up to date. Upon motion duly seconded, it was RESOLVED that competent engineers be employed to have the assessment maps of the Town of Mamaroneck revised and- corrected. The Clerk reported that requests had been made to repair the tires of the fire truck of the Weaver Street Fire Company and it was VOTED that the matter be referred to the Town Clerk with power, to have said tires repaired and put in proper working order. It was brought to the attention of the Board that the new fire house being nearly completed, it would be necessary to have telephones installed for the fire company. Upon motion duly seconded, it was VOTED that the Clerk be authorized and empowered to enter into a proper contract with the New York Telephone Company for the installation of tele- nhones in the Weaver Street Fire House and the necessary extensions needed. The Clerk brought to the attention of the Town Board the matter of appropriation for the observance of Memorial Day in accordance with law, whereupon the following resolution was offered by Justice Shafer, seconded by Justice Collins: RESOLVED that there be appropriated a sum not exceeding $100. under the provisions of Section 136 of the Town. Lawpi for the purpose of defraying the expenses for the proper observance of Memorial Day, which amount shall be levied, ass- essed and collected in the same manner as other expenses of said Town are levied, assessed and collected., and it is further RESOLVED that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to notify the commanders of the Posts of the American Lemon and G. A. R. in the Town of Ma- maroneck that under the provisions of Section 136 the Commanders and Quarter- masters of the aforesaid posts and camps shall by concurrent action direct the Supervisor of the Town what proportion of such money so raised shall be expend- ed by each of the said posts or camps, which proportion shall be paid by the Supervisor upon the order or orders of the Commander or Quartermaster of said Posts.
