The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8 : 10 p.m.
On motion of Mrs . Fredston, and carried , the minutes of the
meeting of September 6, 1983 were approved as written.
Mr. Joseph Dorsey appeared before the Committee in response to
a question raised at the September meeting. He explained that he
posted "no treaspassing" signs on his property (2 Beach Avenue) because
he has acquired title from the State to land under water into the
Sound for a distance of 600 feet from his property. It is his under-
standing that no one is allowed to drop anchor from boats in this
area. Discussion was held on allowing fishing at Dog Beach. Mrs .
Curnin noted that the Board of Trustees would have to consider this
issue . Mr. Dorsey offered to review this issue with the Committee
at a later date .
HARBOR MANAGEMENT
Mr. Irwin would like to meet with each sub-committee of the
Harbor Management Plan to clarify details . The Local Waterfront
Revitalization Program is due in Albany on November 1 , but Er. Irwin
felt that compilation of all material will take longer. Mr. Irwin felt
that some areas were not covered in the material submitted thus far
Cand suggested including descriptions of yacht clubs , resources,
moorings , and a well-protected harbor. He suggested also adding what

policing needs exist and recreational facilities available. Mr.
Allen agreed to expand his report.
LAND USE AND FLOODING
Discussion was held on flooding near the Hommocks and Cedar
Island, and the wave height study map. It was the consensus of members
that parts of the map are inaccurate. Mr. Lotto suggested including
a zoning map showing existing land use with the report.
CONSERVATION
Mr. Lotto requested that significantly important habitats be
added to the material for this project.
POLLUTION
Mrs . Fredston presented her report. Mrs . Curnin suggested that
large apartment storage tanks be pressure tested to determine if any
leaks are occurring, and that that she is investigating local laws
to see if that topic is covered . Dr. Mason presented his report on
the sewer systems , and discussion was held on the treatment of sewage.
Mrs . Curnin noted that the Input Study still has not been received from
the County. Mrs . Curnin will contact Charles McCaffrey to request a
basic map. Mrs. Curnin then read her statement concerning the gathering
of local support for this project.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 1983 at
8 p.m. in the Village Room at the Village Center.
ADJOURNMENT
