CARPINO-STEFFENS FIELDS
Ms. Fisher requested that the Commission review their Wednesday policy for use of the Carpino-
Steffens Fields. She informed the Commission that Mamaroneck Schools Athletic Director,
David McGuckin contends he never received the letter sent to him by former Superintendent
Heidepriem informing him of the Commission policy of Wednesdays' field closure. Mr.
McGuckin has been able to reschedule all games but May 9`h. He has requested permission to
use the fields on this date.
Commission unanimously approved the use by the Mamaroneck High School Athletic
Department on May 9'h only.
ACTING SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE
1. The Commission unanimously approved the letter of request by KEEPS, INC. for use of
the Hommocks Pool this summer.
2. The Commission unanimously approved the request by Central School for the use of the
Carpino-Steffens Fields on for their Annual Field Day on June 18, 2001.
3. Ms. Fisher requested that the Commission review an application by Chuck Cohen of the
Sound Shore Summit Lacrosse League for use of the Carpino-Steffens Fields. Mr. Cohen
had requested one hour per week for six weeks use of the fields. Commission Conlan
reminded the Commission, that Mike Ryan of Landtek feels that Lacrosse (more than any
other sport) would do the most damage to the fields.
Commission Druker suggested that the Commission approve one night instead of the
three requested. On a motion made by Commissioner Conlan, seconded by
Commissioner Druker, the Commission approved Sound Shore Summit Lacrosse
League's application for use of the Carpino-Steffens Fields for one hour per week for
three weeks with a fifteen to twenty minutes warm-up period. Commission Castellani
voted against this motion.
4. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that the Hommocks Pool roof is scheduled to be

RINK MANAGER UPDATE
At this point in the meeting, Rob Lunde, Hommocks Park Ice Rink Manager joined the meeting
to discuss several Rink issues.
1. Compressor failure - Mr. Lunde explained the events that led to the replacement of two
compressors at the Ice Rink last month.
Commissioner Conlan inquired if the extended season is overtaxing the equipment at the
Rink. Mr. Lunde thinks that possibly the equipment is overtaxed at the beginning of the
season, but not at the end.
2. Mr. Lunde reviewed with the Commission the Extended Season Analysis. He informed
the Commission that Skating School registrations are up this season.
Commission Druker requested an expense versus revenue analysis. Ms. Fisher provided
the Commission a copy of last year's analysis. Commissioner Druker feels that since the
Rink operates at a profit for the extended season, even if equipment needs to replaced
every four to five years, it is still profitable.
Commission Druker asked if part of the revenue collected could be put aside to replace
worn out equipment. Mr. Altieri said it would be possible to do that or just to budget for
it.
3. Mr. Lunde gave a brief outline of improvements he would like to see at the Ice Rink
including adding showers to the back bathrooms, moving the referee box and new
outdoor signage. Commissioner Conlan requested that, Mr. Lunde prepare a proposal to
present at the next month's meeting. Ms. Fisher asked the Commission to keep in mind
that eventually the Sport Court flooring would need to be replaced.
4. Mr. Lunde reported on conversations he has had with Mamaroneck High School Athletic
Director David McGuckin and the President of Mamaroneck Youth Hockey, Bill
Blanchard regarding possible ice rental changes. He will keep the Commission updated.
Mr. Lunde feels the Mr. Blanchard is expecting a raise in the ice rental fee for MYHA.
At this time Mr. Lunde concluded his presentation.
PRESENTATION BY SANDEE BENNETT, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE
SOUTHEAST CONSORTIUM FOR SPECIAL SERVICES
Ms. Bennett distributed promotional packets on the Southeast Consortium for Special Services
and gave a short presentation on "Inclusion Camp Opportunities for Youth With and Without
Disabilities". She is requesting that the Town sign a "Delivery of Inclusion Camp" agreement,
which will have SEC provide assistance for disabled youth who attend Town camps. The Town
will provide one on one counselors for these children if needed out of its' budget. The Southeast
Consortium would provide training and ongoing support. Ms. Toni Ann Guagliano, Town of
Mamaroneck Recreation Department Senior Recreation Leader, reported that 2 children were
included at the Hommocks Playground last year and all went very well. Ms. Fisher will forward
this agreement to the Town Attorney for approval.
Ms. Bennett requested that any changes be sent to her before the May 24`h meeting of the
Southeast Consortium Board.
CHARIMAN'S UPDATE
A short discussion was held regarding use of the Hommocks Pool by Town volunteers. The
Commission reiterated its policy that they do not give away free passes. Any resident is entitled
to a permit.
