HOMMOCKS PARK ICE RINK PUBLIC SKATING SCHEDULE Ms. Fisher presented a proposal to the Commission on behalf of Rink Manager Rob Lunde, to eliminate the Wednesday public skating sessions. Currently these sessions are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Mr. Lunde feels that due to the low attendance, time could be more cost effective if used for ice maintenance. The Commission stated that it is reluctant to eliminate all Wednesday public sessions. On a motion by Commissioner Druker, seconded by Commissioner Plansky the Commission decided to keep the Wednesday public skating sessions on the first and third Wednesday of the month from mid-November to mid-March. Ms. Fisher presented a request from Mamaroneck High School Varsity Hockey Coach, Mike Chiapparelli for additional ice time on Friday nights. To grant this request would mean making adjustments to the Friday night schedule. Attendance is down on Friday nights possibly because the time of the public session is too late for families. On a motion by Commissioner Druker, seconded by Commissioner Castellani, the Commission decided that the Friday night Family Skate must remain but that the public session will end one half hour earlier at 10:00 P.M. allowing the high school to practice from 10:15 to 11:45 P.M. On a motion by Commissioner Druker, seconded by Commissioner Paonessa the meeting was adjourned at 6:50 P.M. Due to tragic events at the World Trade Center On September 11, 2001 the Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission meeting for September was cancelled.
