HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949_02_23 Zoning Board of Appeals Minutes MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK, HELD IN THE BOARD ROOM AT 11 EDGEWOOD AVENUE, LARCHMONT, NEW YORK, ON FEBRUARY 23rd, 1949. The meeting was called to order at g o 'clock P. M. PRESENT: Cornelius J. Quinn Charles F. Mink Clifford W. Cross ABSENT: Munn Brewer, Chairman George D. Burchell Presence was also noted of Town Attorney Delius and Assistant Building Inspector Thomas McAvoy. Because of the absence of Mr. Brewer, Mr. Mink acted as Chairman and conducted the hearing. The minutes of the previous meeting, held January 26th, 1949, were approved as presented. The Clerk stated that Mr. Julian Hyman, Attorney for Lub:. Chevro- let Co. had requested a further adjournment of his application, for one month. This was granted and the application of Luby Chevrolet Co. will, therefore, come before this Board at its next regular meeting which will be March 23rd, 1949. The application before the Board was that of Philip Guglielmo for modification of Article 2, Section 3 of the Zoning Ordinance, to permit the erection of a 4-family dwelling on premises located on the south side of Lester Place, 250 feet west from Madison Avenue, and known on the Tax Assessment Map of the Town of Mamaro- neck as Block 132, Parcel 52. Mr. Philip Guglielmo, together with his son, appeared in behalf of the application and submitted plans. Mr. William S. Brill, an attorney, representing some 20 neighbors in the adjoining section on the other side of Lester Place, appeared in opposition to the application. Mr. Carnoy said he would like to make application to have this section re-zoned from its present zoning "A-2" to Residence "A". He was informed that this was a matter which :oust be Lken up with the Town Board. After discussion and questioning, Mr. Mink, acting Chairman, 4 thanked those who had come to the meeting, for their interest, and informed Mr. Guglielmo that he would be notified of the Board' s decision. The Board then went into executive session and after further 1 discussion and upon motion duly made and seconded, it was RESOLVED that the application of Philip Guglielmo for modification of Article 2, Section 3 of the Zoning Ordinance, to permit the erection of a it family dwell- -16- II ing on premises located on the south side of Lester Place, 250 feet west from Madison Avenue, and known on the Tax Assessment Map of the Town of Mamaroneck as Block 132, Parcel 52, be and the same hereby is denied and the decision of the Building Inspector affirmed. A vote taken on this resulted as follows: AYES: Mr. Mink, Mr. Quinn, Mr. Cross NOES: None The Clerk submitted two letters dated , from Maurice E. Serling and Anna Serling respectively in connection with the application made by Herman Bose. Also submitted was a reply to these letters from the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, to whom they were addressed. This correspondence was ordered placed on file.
