YOUTH HOUSE LEAGUE HOCKEY PROGRAM DISCUSSION:
Mr. Robert Greason, coordinator of the Youth Hockey House League Program last
season and who has agreed to return for this year, presented the Commission with his
ideas for the 2008-2009 hockey season.
Mr. Greason would like:
• Pre-season meetings with coaches, participants and parents
• Neck guards and colored mouth guards be made mandatory
• All players and coaches, while on the bench, must wear helmets
• To have the high school coaches more closely supervised
• Advise coaching staff of weekly practices by email
• Have a registration deadline
The Commission thanked Mr. Greason for his time and dedication to our youth hockey
program and wholeheartedly endorsed all of his suggestions.

HOMMOCKS PARK ICE RINK 2008-2009 SEASON:
Mr. Rob Lunde, Hommocks Park Ice Rink Manager, reported that the rink had another
very successful season. He has had many organizations requesting ice time for the
coming season, which he is unable to accommodate. The only available time is early
morning and late night.
He is also concerned that the "Sport Court" flooring, used for camp in the summer, will
need to be replaced shortly.
The feasibility study should address ways of expanding the ice rink and the flooring
issue and we are anxious to review our options.
On a motion by Commissioner Morello, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the
Commission unanimously set the hourly rate to rent ice at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink
at $390.00 per hour and further authorized Mr. Lunde to negotiate the rate for early
morning and late night rentals.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:

LETTER OF REQUEST FROM RESIDENT WYMAN LAI:

NOT ON THE AGENDA:
Ms. Fisher has received an email from pool patron Jennifer Ransom stating her
concerns regarding parking and use of the Hommocks Pool.
Ms. Ransom is upset that while camp is in session (from noon to 3:00 P.M.) parking and
space in the pool is very limited.
The Commission understands Ms. Ransom's stress but there is little they can do to
alleviate the situation. Since there is nowhere else for them to park, employees must
park in the main parking lot. Since all camp participants using the pool are residents,
the Commission feels strongly that they should have access to the pool. The
Commission has asked Ms. Fisher to convey their response to Ms. Ransom.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
The August Recreation Commission meeting with the Directors of the various camps
will be held on Tuesday, August 5th at Palmers Crossing Restaurant, 1957 Palmer
Avenue in Larchmont beginning at 6:00 P.M.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Siskind, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
