Ms. Fisher and Mr. Lunde will meet with representatives from different companies and then select one to conduct the survey. Ms. Fisher will report their findings to the Commission once the survey is complete. Mr. Lunde displayed an idea for a logo for the Hommocks Park Ice Rink entitled "Hommocks Park Ice Rink— The Hidden Treasure". He asked if any of the Commissioners had any other ideas. The Commission thanked Mr. Lunde for his time and they look forward to continuing to work with him. SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE: Ms. Fisher reported the following: 1. Summer Day Camps began on July 2nd. Current enrollment is: Hommocks Playground - 419 Camp Central - 142 Camp Monroe - 100 2. All Aquatic Programs are underway. The Mamaroneck Swim Club won their first home meet. 3. All golf programs are fully enrolled. 4. The Hommocks Pool Complex opened for the summer season on Saturday, June 23rd. All issues involving the pool deck have been resolved. 5. One of the handicapped accessible ladders has been installed. The other one should be in shortly. 6. The Recreation Department has hired male and female locker room custodians to help with light cleaning and maintenance of the locker rooms. They will be on duty 7 days a week between the hours of noon to 6:00 P.M. 7. Apparently due to a lack of parental interest and insurance coverage, there is some doubt whether SafeRides will be operating next season. NO SMOKING POLICY AT HOMMOCKS POOL OUTDOOR FACILITY: Several issues have arisen regarding the current smoking policy at the outdoor pool facility. Currently our policy is "Smoking is not permitted in the pool area, locker rooms or hallways. Smoking is permitted only in the designated outdoor area during the summer hours." Since our outdoor area is very popular it is getting increasingly difficult to designate an area for smoking. We have received complaints regarding patrons smoking around the outdoor area from residents. After a brief discussion, on a motion by Commissioner Morello, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the Commission unanimously decided to adopt the policy of "No smoking anywhere in the pool area or grounds". Signs will be posted at the pool indicating the new policy. Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes July 10, 2007 - Page 3 LETTER OF REQUEST BY RESIDENT CARLOS MARTINEZ: Resident Carlos Martinez has requested that the Commission extend his pool pass for the length of time the pool was closed instead of issuing him a credit. The entire Commission agreed that, unfortunately a policy has been set that does not allow for any flexibility. Ms. Fisher will inform Mr. Martinez of the Commission's decision and advise him that his other comments will be taken under consideration. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Ms. Fisher reminded the Commission that next month's annual meeting with summer camp staff will be held on Tuesday, August 8 at Palmer Crossing beginning at 6:00 P.M. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Morello, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
