Pool renewal applications were mailed to all previous permit holders. Additional evening hours and one Saturday morning have been scheduled for the convenience of our residents. The pool is scheduled to begin summer hours on Saturday, June 21st, but due the excessive heat, the outdoor area will be open the weekend of June 14th. Parts are on order for the outdoor pools, so it is not sure whether they will be able to open. However they definitely will be available on June 21st 8. Additional signage is being posted at the Hommocks Pool requiring children in the "diaper stage" to have a swim diaper. Swim diapers will be available for sale as an added convenience. 9. CARPINO-STEFFENS FIELD MAINTENANCE: The request, made at the May 13th Commission meeting, regarding the use of the Carpino-Steffens Fields for the fall of 2008 by local youth organizations was discussed. Ms. Fisher stated that although LandTek strongly advises against delaying or eliminating the fall maintenance program, there is a real need this fall for field space in the community. Due to the closing of two fields at Flint Park this fall and in order to accommodate our residents, on a motion by Commissioner Plansky, seconded by Commissioner Morello, the Commission unanimously approved the following: 1. For this fall season only, the regularly scheduled August field maintenance of over-seeding, fertilization, core aeration and top dressing of both fields will be suspended. 2. Access this fall will be granted after Friday, August 22nd. The fields will remain open until mid-November. 3. If any additional cost is needed for restoration, it will be divided equally among all three user groups (the Town of Mamaroneck, the Mamaroneck School District and the Larchmont Junior Soccer League.) 4. Depending on the condition of the fields and the repairs necessary, the spring, 2009 opening date may be delayed until both fields are restored to safe playing conditions. 5. The resting day will be switched from Wednesday to Monday beginning August 25th. However, the fields will still be cut on Wednesday morning prior to noon. If inclement weather precludes cutting on Wednesday, the cutting will then be done on Thursday morning.
