fertilized by LandTek the last week of November. The fields will then be closed

11. Memorial Park Tennis Courts closed for the season on November 1st. The

12. The Badger Swim Team is underway at the pool on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The Recreation Department is investigating initiating a diving program for this
winter.
13. Rob Lunde returned to work on November 2nd on light duty (4 hours per day).
14. A draft of the Hommocks Park Ice Rink Feasibility Study should be available by
the end of November.
15. Mr. Altieri will be scheduling a meeting with a representative from Hampshire
Country Club in pursuit of additional information as the Recreation Commission
requested.
16. The Recreation Department is working on an in-house marketing and advertising
plan for the Hommocks Park Ice Rink. This would include power point videos of
rink related programs and activities, as well as other department programs being
displayed on a television monitor in the lobby.
17. The Mamaroneck Youth Hockey Association has returned their signed contract
and Certificate of Insurance and the "Cut Hut" ice skating sharpening service is
now open for business at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink.
18. At the Budget Work Session held on October 30th, the Town Board decided to
make changes to the 2010 Recreation Budget that was submitted.
Some of these changes are:
• As of the 2010-2011 skating season, the Mamaroneck Youth Hockey
Association (MYNA) will no longer be subsidized by the Town.
Potential additional 2010 revenue would be $11,000, based on the current
ice rental rate of$400 per hour.
• The Monroe Pre School Camp subsidies will now need to be:
2010 - 10% (new fee would be $615, which is a $50 increase)
2011 - 5%
2012 - 0%
Potential additional 2010 revenue would be $2,900.
• The Neighborhood Pre School Camp subsidies will now need to be:
2010 - 5% (new fee would be $520, which is a $70 increase)
2011 - 0%
Potential additional 2010 revenue would be $6,750.
• Decrease the number of Department brochures printed to approximately
4,000 and no longer mail out to all residents. Residents would be
encouraged to read or download the brochure from the Town's website.
Potential savings $9,000.
• Reduce the part-time salary line at the rink by an additional $13,000. This
would include eliminating E.M.T.s during the slower public session days
and training skate guards in First Aid. Custodial hours would also be
reduced through the season.
The Commission understands the position the Town Board is in, but voiced
strong concern that such a large increase in camp fees would be difficult for
many resident families under the current economic conditions.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
Ms. Fisher reminded the Commission that the December 8, 2009 Commission meeting
will be held at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink.
