seasonal skating pass to the Hommocks Park Ice Rink.

155 players have registered.

4. The High School/Adult Volleyball Program begins on November 12th
5. Hommocks Park Ice Rink attendance continues to increase over the same
time period as last year. Friday's "Cosmic Skate Nights" are very popular.
6. Due to low enrollment, the Red Cross Guard Start program was cancelled.
This program will be offered once again in February.

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
9. The Town Board held a budget work session with department heads on
November 7th. The Board agreed that lowering the ice rental fee discount
rate for Mamaroneck Schools and the Mamaroneck Youth Hockey
Association is appropriate.
10. The Carpino-Steffens Fields are scheduled to be dormant seeded, aerated,
fertilized and top dressed by LandTek before the end of November. The
fields will then be closed for the season. Photos will be taken prior to the
maintenance to document the current field conditions.
11. The Memorial Park Tennis Courts closed for the season on November 1st
The windscreens have been taken down and the park building winterized.
Although there was no vandalism done on Halloween, last weekend both
tunnel bays and the comfort station were sprayed painted. The bays have
been repainted and a special graffiti removal company will be hired to clean
the comfort station. The department is investigating the possibility of
installing cameras in the park to hopefully deter any further incidents.
12. The water-proofing has been completed surrounding the foundation of the
Monroe building. New sheetrock will be installed inside and the walls are
scheduled to be painted before camp begins.
13. John Collins of Badger Swim Club has been contacted regarding his
organization using the Hommocks Pool this winter. He had expressed an
interest in using the pool on a trial basis from November through December.
To date he has not confirmed his intentions nor has he supplied the required
Certificate of Insurance.
14. The Department has begun preparing the 2009 Spring-Summer Department
Brochure. Fees will be presented at the December Commission meeting for
approval.
15. The Village of Mamaroneck Senior Center will be merging with the Town of
Mamaroneck Senior Center beginning next year. Maria Gallagher will have a
larger program to manage but we plan to continue to have her maintain her
Recreation Department duties, as well.
16. As requested, payroll documentation has been received from the
Mamaroneck School District Treasurer. After reviewing these documents, it
seems that the on-duty custodian/pool operator is paid at a rate of time and a
half on Saturdays and double time on Sundays. Also, those who work prior to
6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M. receive an extra rate of 12%. Stephen Altieri, the
Town Administrator, will be scheduling a meeting with the Superintendent of
Schools for us to discuss this matter further.
17. The Feasibility Study has been received from RSP Architect, Ltd.
Unfortunately, it has many typographical errors and has to be returned.
Some of the issues expressed in the study include:
a. Roof needs repairs
b. Dehumidification
c. Replacement of dasher-boards
d. Replacement of refrigeration system
e. Concrete floor
After the corrections have been completed, a meeting between the Town
Board and the Recreation Commission will be scheduled to discuss the
findings.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ms. Fisher reminded the Commission members that the December meeting will be held
at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink.
