COMMISSION MEETING
April 13, 2004

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Pro Tem Druker.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On a motion by Commissioner Plansky, seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the
Meeting Minutes of March 9, 2004 were unanimously approved as submitted.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. Memorial Park opened on April 1st
2. The Annual IceBreaker Tournament was cancelled due to poor enrollment.
All the ice time has been rented to the Ice Hutch.
3. Registration for summer programs will begin on April 15th
4. Youth Spring Hockey has 80 children registered, which is 16 more than last
year.
5. Tennis programs are scheduled to begin the week of May 5th
6. A total of 933 coupons were redeemed this season at the Hommocks Park
Ice Rink. The most successful one was the Clipper magazine.
7. 12 families participated in the Build a Snowman contest. Prizes were donated
by the Larchmont Dunkin Donuts, who also displayed the photographs in their
store.
8. The Carpino-Steffens Fields were seeded, fertilized and core aerated on
March 15th and officially open on April 1st
9. The lawn at Memorial Park is scheduled to be re-seeded the week of April
19th.
10. Letters requesting corporate sponsorships, for our Concerts in the Park and
outdoor movie, have been mailed.
11. Due to a computer error, there was a mistake in the 2004 Spring/Summer
Recreation Brochure. Wherever a '/2 should be it was printed "fi". Extra
brochures are being reprinted at the printer's cost.
12. It might be time for the Commission to consider a way to honor Chairman
Richard Conlan's contribution to the Commission by planting a tree in his
honor. Chairman Pro Tem Druker suggested Memorial Day might be a good
time and the Larchmont Gardens Lake might be an appropriate place for it.
Commissioner Paonessa suggested a bench would be nice. Ms. Fisher will
contact the Conlan Family for their thoughts.

REQUEST TO USE THE HOMMOCKS POOL:
On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Devaney, the
Commission unanimously approved the requests from Hommocks Co-op Day Camp
and Mamaroneck Co-op Day Camp for use of the Hommocks Pool this summer.
REQUEST FOR A DONATION BY THE LARCHMONT GARDENS CIVIC
ASSOCIATION:
A letter has been received from Mr. George Roniger, President of the Larchmont
Gardens Civic Association requesting a donation to the Association's Spring Fair.
After a brief discussion the Commission unanimously approved a one day family
skating pass (including skate rental) for a maximum of 5 people to the Hommocks
Park Ice Rink.
REQUEST FOR A DONATION TO THE MURRAY AVENUE SCHOOL SILENT
AUCTION:
A letter from Ms. Tori Pough, Chairman of the Murray Avenue School PTA Silent
Auction requesting one adult and one youth Seasonal Skating Pass to the
Hommocks Park Ice Rink, as well as a Family pass to the Hommocks Pool has been
received. After a brief discussion the Commission approved the donation of one
adult and one youth Seasonal Skating Pass to the Hommocks Park Ice Rink, but
denied the request for a Family Hommocks Pool Pass.
NON RESIDENT PARTICIPATION IN YOUTH HOCKEY:
Due to the success of this past season, Ms. Fisher requested the Commission once
again approve allowing non resident children to participate in the Youth Hockey
House League in the fall of 2004.
On a motion by Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Kaufman, the
Commission unanimously approved allowing non resident children to participate in
the Town's Youth Hockey House League, subject to review every year. The fee will
be set at a later time.
NOT ON AGENDA:
1. Revisions to the local law regarding Parks and Fields were delivered to
Commissioners' homes on Monday, April 12th. Ms. Fisher apologized for the late
notice, but she had just received it back from the Town Attorney.
Commissioner Kaufman inquired about the posting of signs at the park. Ms.
Fisher replied that only Town signs will be permitted, such as the one stating
hours and rules, all others will be removed by the Town Highway Department.
2. At next month's meeting Ms. Fisher will request that the Commission consider
eliminating the Friday evening public sessions at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink.
She will be prepared to review in depth at next month's meeting.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Paonessa the meeting was
adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
