CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Acting Chairman Druker.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On a motion by Commissioner Plansky, seconded by Commissioner Castellani, the
meeting minutes of May 13, 2003 were unanimously approved as corrected.
INTRODUCTION OF NEW RECREATION SUPERVISOR:
Ms. Fisher introduced Maria Gallagher, the Department's new Recreation Supervisor
who will be replacing Toni Ann Guagliano.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. Several donations for our Summer Outdoor Concerts in the Park series have
been received. The Bank of New York and The Coughlin Group donated
$250.00 each; a check for $2,250 has been received from First Union/Wachovia
Bank.
2. Camp enrollment is good. Late registrations will be placed if space permits.
Camps begin on June 30th and there will be no programs on July 4th
3. Hommocks Park Ice Rink will close for the season on June 15th. Rob Lunde and
his staff will immediately begin to dismantle the Rink and install the Sport Court
flooring for use by the Hommocks Playground.
4. The Recreation Department has chosen Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" as the Outdoor
Movie in the Park to be shown at Memorial Park on Friday, July 25th
Mr. Odinera suggested that the Department place the Town website address on
all fliers so residents can check for program updates.
5. The new Pilates class was so successful a second class has been added. The
new class begins on July 9th

6. The outdoor pools at the Hommocks Complex opened this past weekend. The
grass looks good. Commissioner Dufficy inquired if there was a smoking policy
for the facility. Ms. Fisher replied that there is no designated smoking area, but
patrons are requested not to smoke in the food area or under the awnings. This
policy has been effective in the past.
7. LandTek is scheduled to fertilize the Carpino-Steffens Fields on June 23rd. The
Fields will then be closed for 2 days.
8. The Hommocks Pool roof was not removed as scheduled on May 27th & 28th, but
removed on May 29th & 30th
9. The Town is seeking one individual from the Village of Mamaroneck and one
from the Unincorporated Area of the Town of Mamaroneck to replace Patricia
Castellani and Rosemary Dufficy as members of the Recreation Commission,
who will be resigning. Recommendations are welcome.
10. Work has begun to improve the entranceway to Hommocks Park Ice Rink.
11. Swim diapers will now be available for sale in different sizes at the Hommocks
Pool. Cost is $1.00 per diaper.
12. The 2001 Hommocks Pool bill from the Mamaroneck Board of Education has
been settled. The Board of Education has agreed to a 25% reduction in the total.
13. Authority has been given by the Town Board at its May 28th meeting to accept
the proposal from Ward Associates for design services for the Ice Rink
concession area improvements.
POOL PERMIT FEES:
Due to the expected closing of the Hommocks Pool by the Mamaroneck Board of
Education in September of 2004, on a motion by Commissioner Castellani, seconded by
Commissioner Dufficy, the Commission unanimously approved the following fee
schedule:

SCHOOL YEAR PERMIT - valid from date of purchase until June 18, 2004

REQUEST BY TEACCH PROGRAM FOR USE OF THE HOMMOCKS POOL:
The Recreation Commission unanimously approved the request by the TEACCH
Program of the Mamaroneck Board of Education to use the Hommocks Pool this
summer.
REQUEST BY CO-OP DAY CAMP TO USE THE RECESS AREA OF CARPINO-
STEFFENS FIELDS:
Co-Op Day Camp has requested use of the recess area of the Carpino-Steffens Fields
for use by the new Hommocks Co-Op Camp (the middle school extension of the
Mamaroneck Co-Op Camp.)
Ms. Fisher recommended taking down the temporary fencing and allowing this camp to
use the fields with the Hommocks Playground.
On a motion by Commissioner Castellani, seconded by Commissioner Dufficy the
Commission unanimously approved the use of the Carpino-Steffens Fields by the
Hommocks Co-Op Camp.
LETTER OF REQUEST FROM RESIDENT AMY BLOCH-HOROWITZ:
In a letter addressed to Chairman Conlan, Amy Bloch-Horowtiz has requested the
Recreation Commission allow her babysitter, who cares for her special needs child, to
apply for a pass for Hommocks Pool as a resident.
On a motion by Commissioner Dufficy, seconded by Commissioner Castellani, due to
the special medical needs of Mrs. Bloch-Horowtiz's child, the Recreation Commission
unanimously approved allowing her babysitter resident status for Hommocks Pool. This
special exemption must be applied for each year.
HOMMOCKS POOL PASS FOR EXCHANGE STUDENT:
Commissioner Druker presented a request for Russian exchange student Radmil
Bogmanov to be given a scholarship to the Hommocks Pool. Mr. Bogmanov will be
living locally with the Reiter Family at 35 Seton Road in Larchmont. He is part of a
special State Department program called Pro Flex and has very limited funds.
On a motion by Commissioner Plansky, seconded by Commissioner Dufficy, the
Commission unanimously approved a scholarship to the Hommocks Pool for Radmil
Bogmanov.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Commissioner Castellani, seconded by Commissioner Dufficy the meeting adjourned at
8:20 P.M.
