SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE
Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that the Hommocks main pool closed on Tuesday,
July 2nd and remains closed due to problems with the new filter system. The Board of
Education is hopeful that a solution has been found and the pool will be able to reopen
on Wednesday, July 10th. The Westchester County Board of Health must make the final
decision on reopening the pool.
Until the pool reopens, Ms. Fisher has secured Bonnie Briar Golf Club for Mamaroneck
Swim Club practice.
Due to the removal of the diving boards at the Hommocks Pool, Orienta Beach Club has
been secured for diving practice and will remain there for the rest of the summer.
Commissioner Druker asked the cost for these facilities. Ms. Fisher replied that Bonnie
Briar is $187.50 per day and Orienta is $750.00 for the summer.
Chairman Conlan inquired about the number of days the pool has been closed since it
opened on June 15th. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that it has been closed,
completely or partially, 14 out of 25 days.
Chairman Conlan asked if it has been proposed that the Town take over the operation
of the Hommocks Pool. Mr. Altieri responded that it is something the Town Board and
the Commission will have to study.
