Meeting Minutes
December 3, 2002

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Conlan.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On a motion by Commissioner Druker, seconded by Commissioner Paonessa the minutes of
November 12, 2002 were unanimously approved as submitted.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
1. Ms. Fisher reported that as of this date the total for the 2002 pool credits is approximately
$24, 360.
2. The new electric Hommocks Park Ice Rink sign has been installed.
3. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that she had invited Kelly Brennan, the Director of
the Co-Op Day Camp to attend this evening's meeting to discuss the Co-Op Budget. Ms.
Brennan never confirmed her attendance at the meeting, so there was no further
information available to report.
HOMMOCKS PARKING LOT:
Councilman Odierna has observed that the parking signs at Hommocks Park Ice Rink are down.
Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that one sign was knocked down the first day it was
installed. She is working with Mr. Altieri, Mr. Gennarelli (the Superintendent of Highways) and
the Police Department to make sure parking spaces are available for our patrons and participants.
REQUEST FOR THE USE OF THE CARPINO-STEFFENS RECESS AREA:
The Commission reviewed a request from Lawrence Keane, Assistant Principal of Hommocks
School, to use the Recess Area of the Carpino-Steffens Fields for an after school program for
minority children. Commissioner Castellani has concerns regarding the use of a Town facility
for a program that is not available to all children of the community. Commissioner Druker
agrees. Ms. Fisher will contact Mr. Keane for an explanation as to who the program is open to.
The Recreation Commission will approve this request only if all children of the community are
welcome to join.

MICHAEL CHIAPPARELLI (not on the Agenda):
Mr. Michael Chiapparelli, Mamaroneck High School Varsity Hockey Coach and the Director of
the Town of Mamaroneck Youth Hockey Program came before the Recreation Commission to
request permission to solicit advertising to be displayed on the newly constructed Judge's Box at
Hommocks Park Ice Rink. Mr. Chiapparelli has been raising funds to pay for the construction of
this "improvement" to the Rink, but his efforts have come up short. The Commission will allow
his advertisers to display banners (to be approved by Ms. Fisher) on the box for one year.
2003 CAMP FEES:
The following 2003 camp fees were unanimously approved by the Commission
Hommocks Playground - $290 - 1ST child
$270 - 2nd child in family
$250 - 3rd child or more in family
Chatsworth (neighborhood) Pre School - $345 per child
Monroe Pre School - $460 per child
CO-OP DAY CAMP:
Commissioner Castellani asked about the Co-Op Day Camp budget. Mr. Altieri requested that
this discussion be tabled. Sarah Tate, Assistant Superintendent of Schools will be providing Mr.
Altieri a fact sheet, which he will forward on to the Commission members.
Chairman Conlan requested that the Commission have time to review this fact sheet before
meeting with representatives from Co-Op.
JOINT MEETING WITH MEMBERS OF THE MAMARONECK BOARD OF
EDUCATION:
A brief discussion was held regarding the January 14, 2003 meeting with members of the
Mamaroneck Board of Education, which will be held beginning at 6:30 P.M. in the Court Room
of the Town Center.
Commissioner Druker inquired if Ms. Fisher or Mr. Altieri were aware of the items the Board of
Education wanted to discuss. Ms. Fisher replied, that according to Supervisor O'Keeffe's letter
to the Commission, the Supervisor will be providing an agenda to the Commission.
Chairman Conlan believes that the parking situation at the Hommocks should be addressed at
this meeting.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by Commissioner
Druker, seconded by Commissioner Paonessa the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
