SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE
1. Ms. Fisher updated the Commission on the Friends in Need (F.I.N.D.) Charity Hockey
Challenge program to be held at Hommocks Park Ice Rink on Saturday, April 6`h. The
Town has waived the ice rental fee for the evening, but F.I.N.D. will pay any direct costs
involved i.e. staffing, clean-up, etc. A two million dollar certificate of insurance, co-
insuring the Town of Mamaroneck, will be provided.
2. Ms. Fisher updated the Commission on the refrigeration problem at Hommocks Park Ice
Rink on Sunday, March 3rd. The problem was quickly solved, but due to the high outside
temperatures the public session was lost. However the PBA Party, a Mamaroneck Youth
Hockey Association ice rental and a late night rental were salvaged. Potential lost
general admission revenue was approximately $1,700.00.
Commissioner Druker suggested that the Department investigate installing safeguards
that would alert the staff to a problem possibly preventing situations like this before they
happen. Ms. Fisher will follow-up.
3. The Mamaroneck Board of Education has informed the Town that Hommocks Pool is on
schedule for an April 1" reopening.
4. Ms. Fisher has sent a reminder letter to Seth Weitzman, Hommocks School Principal to
remind him of the maintenance of the Carpino-Steffens Fields scheduled to begin on
March 18`h. She will follow-up with a phone call to be sure he has received the letter.
5. The Department is currently evaluating different options for placing an expiration date on
pool passes.
6. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that outlines for the games under the bridges at
Memorial Park are done and will be painted permanently when the weather is warmer.
Ken Paterno and the Town Highway Department will do this work.
7. The Town Highway Department will be re-seeding the lawn at Memorial Park starting
March 25`h. It is anticipated the lawn will be closed until May 1"
