APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion by Commissioner Druker, seconded by Commission Rainaldi, the minutes of January 8, 2002 were accepted as submitted. MR. SYDNEY INGS, LARCHMONT JUNIOR SOCCER LEAGUE Mr. Sydney Ings, President of the Larchmont Junior Soccer League addressed the Commission regarding the need for the League to have access to the Carpino-Steffens Fields beginning Labor Day. Mr. Ings realizes the need for the annual maintenance program, but asked if it might be done in mid June. Commissioner Druker inquired if Landtek had an opinion on when to perform this maintenance. Ms. Fisher referred back to several pieces of correspondence she had from Landtek stating that the best time for this crucial maintenance is in late summer or early fall followed by three weeks of mandatory rest period. Commissioner Druker expressed the Commission's reluctance to risk the Town' investment made in the fields. Mr. Ings understands their position and thanked the Commission for their time. ACTING SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that since the Ice Hutch will not be renting as much ice as in past years, the Hommocks Park Ice Rink will be sponsoring a Men's Spring Hockey League. At least 6 teams are expected to participate. Ms. Fisher distributed a Rink Attendance Report. This analysis compares attendance of October, November and December, 1999, 2000 and 2001. The Rink is doing very well so far this year. Commissioner Paonessa commented that the investment in advertising is paying off. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that the Recreation Department is doing more "in house" advertising than ever before. Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes February 5, 2002 - Page 2 SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that the Recreation Department will be upgrading the playground equipment at Monroe during the Spring. Currently there are two options the Town is considering. One would leave the apparatus now in place this year and add two smaller pieces. The other option is to remove the current apparatus and add a larger one. Councilman Odierna suggested a Fund Raiser might be held to help defray some of the cost of the improvements. The Commission will take this under advisement.
