Mr. Lunde stated that the Rink is doing very well and feels people enjoy coming to the
Hommocks Ice Rink but the Town should continue to try to improve the facility. Resident use is
down, but non resident use continues to grow.
Chairman Conlan asked about the Friday night resident session. Mr. Lunde answered that the
Friday night resident session has not been successful. He would like to change to Friday night
scheduled public session to start at 7:15 P.M. and end at 9:15 P.M. then rent the rest of the
evening to Mamaroneck High School.
Mr. Lunde would also like to eliminate the Wednesday public session and sell that ice to the Rye
Figure Skating Club for the entire season.
Chairman Conlan asked him to put his proposals in writing for the July Commission meeting.
Mr. Lunde would also like ice rental charges to increase. Commissioner Druker suggested an
increase for the Mamaroneck School District. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that the rate
was controlled by a contract between the Town and Board of Education. Commissioner Druker
feels that the School District should pay the same as the Mamaroneck Youth Hockey
Association. Chairman Conlan suggested the contract be renegotiated . Ms. Fisher and Mr.
Altieri will look into this.
Mr. Lunde also suggested that Figure Skating Lessons be increased by $5.00 per session.
The Commission thanked Mr. Lunde for all his work.
TOWN SUPERVISOR VALERIE MOORE O'KEEFFE
Supervisor O'Keeffe introduced resident Ivan Taub to the Commission. Mr. Taub is very
concerned about the lack of playing fields in the Town and has brought his concerns to the
attention of Supervisor O'Keeffe.
Supervisor O'Keeffe will be organizing an Open Space Committee who she hopes will be able to
suggest to the Town other options and places for playing fields.
Mr. Taub stated there were two types of field needs - one for everyday play and one for travel
teams. He feels there would not be a problem if the travel field were to be located outside of the
Town.
Supervisor O'Keeffe asked the Recreation Commission for assistance in providing the number
of organizations, teams and individuals who use the fields located within the community.
Supervisor O'Keeffe thanked the Commission for their continued hard work on behalf of the
residents of the Town of Mamaroneck.
SUMMER CONCERTS IN MEMORIAL PARK
Councilman Odierna asked Supervisor O'Keeffe to clarify her position regarding soliciting
sponsors for the Memorial Park Concert series. She stated that she would like only national
businesses contacted for donations not local ones.
