SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE
1. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission that the Hommocks Pool did not open as scheduled
May 1st. The Mamaroneck School District has notified the Town that the pool cannot
reopen until the proper certificates to operate have been received from the Westchester
County Board of Health. Councilman Odierna will update the Town Board at their
meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2002.
2. Ms. Fisher reported that she would like to deposit half of the $9,250 raised from the
Annual Ice Breaker Tournament into the Ice Rental Revenue account and the other half
into the Hommocks Park Ice Rink Trust Fund. Commissioner Druker asked what the
balance is in the Trust Fund Account. Ms. Fisher informed the Commission, as of this
afternoon the balance is approximately $92,000. Chairman Conlan requested Ms. Fisher
to find out how the Rink Trust Fund was established and what the money may be used
for. She will report back to the Commission at the June meeting.
3. Ms. Fisher told the Commission that solicitation of sponsors for the Summer Concerts at
Memorial Park have been halted. Supervisor O'Keeffe requested that only banks and not
private business be approached. Chairman Conlan will contact Mrs. O'Keeffe for
clarification.
4. Commissioner Druker asked Ms. Fisher if she knew how much money the pool has lost
by not reopening on time. Ms. Fisher replied that to date the Spring Warm-Up Clinic is
the only program that has been cancelled. Early Morning Swim and Life Guard Training
are awaiting the reopening of the pool. Pool passes will not be sold until the pool
officially reopens. Commissioner Druker asked that a running total be kept.
5. Ms. Fisher then presented a brief outline of the new Introduction to Golf program being
offered by the Recreation Department this season. She requested that the Commission
approve the contractual agreement with Saxon Woods Golf Course. On a motion by
Commissioner Druker, seconded by Commissioner Plansky (with Commissioner
Paonessa abstaining) the Commission approved the agreement that will give 80% of the
program profits to Saxon Woods and 20% to the Town.
6. The old Monroe Playground equipment has been removed by the Highway Department.
The new apparatus has been ordered and should be installed by the start of camp on July
1 st
7. Preparation has begun on the outside pools for a June 15th opening.
