PRESENTATION AND REQUEST FROM LOCAL YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS REGARDING THE CARPINO-STEFFENS FIELDS: A proposal signed by Ms. Suman, Mr. Ings and Mr. Russo was distributed requesting changes to the current field maintenance schedule, which include: • Access to and use of the Carpino-Steffens Fields beginning on August 22nd • Switch the "resting" and mowing day from Wednesday to Monday. • During the high growth/use months of May, September and October, increase the mowing frequency to twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. Mr. Ings feels that there is no need to seed in late August and suggested doing it in early June or eliminate the pre-Fall maintenance so that the fields may be used immediately after the end of the Town Soccer Camp. Ms. Suman informed the Commission that this year, New York State Public Schools are allowed to begin pre-season practice on August 22nd and because the fields are closed, her athletes will be at a disadvantage. Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes May 13, 2008 - Page 2 PRESENTATION AND REQUEST FROM LOCAL YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS REGARDING THE CARPINO-STEFFENS FIELDS CONTINUED: Ms. Fisher referred to a communication from LandTek (the company that provides the maintenance for the fields) who firmly believes that the best time to do this maintenance is late summer or early fall. Mr. Fishman suggested that the Town should concede somewhat to be more accommodating like some of the other communities during this time. Chairman Druker thanked everyone for attending and sharing their suggestions, which the Commission will take under advisement. He also suggested that possibly one field might be made available earlier this year because one of the fields at Flint Park will be closed. Chairman Druker then requested that Ms. Fisher: 1. Consult LandTek regarding the optimum time for seeding and consequences of deviating from this schedule. 2. Obtain a price quote for cutting the grass twice a week. The Commission will consider changing the day of rest from Wednesday to Monday. SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE: Ms. Fisher reported the following: 1.
