Rita Plansky
Terry Rainaldi
EXCUSED: William Paonessa
Amy Siskind
Ernie Odierna, Town Board Liaison
ALSO PRESENT: Jill Fisher, Superintendent of Recreation
Mary Ellen Faulkner, Commission Secretary
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held in the V.F.W. Lodge, 1288 Boston Post Road, Larchmont was called
to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Druker.
ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES:
On a motion by Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the
Meeting Minutes of August 9, 2011 were unanimously approved as corrected.
REFUND REQUEST BY RESIDENTS DIANE LAMAGNA AND ANN CIRACO:
Ms. Diane LaMagna and Ms. Ann Ciraco have requested a full refund for their children's
summer swim lessons.
Ms. LaMagna and Ms. Ciraco stated that they were not informed, nor did they realize,
that their children needed a pass to the Hommocks Pool in order to participate in swim
lessons. If they were aware that a pass was required they would never have signed up
for the lessons.
After a brief discussion, on a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner
Morello, the Commission unanimously decided, that due to special circumstances, a full
refund will be granted.
However, the established refund policy will remain in effect and the Commission will
continue to review and evaluate special requests on an individual basis.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. The Larchmont Junior Soccer League has expressed displeasure that, due to the
number of days required for the fields to rest after maintenance, the Carpino-
Steffens Fields are not available for the opening of their fall season.
The Recreation Department has been consistent with closing the fields for the 21
days of rest recommended by LandTek and will continue to do so.
2. Summit Soccer Camp enrollment was down this summer. Net revenue however,
was $9,261.

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
3. After September 30th, there will no longer be an attendant at Memorial Park
Tennis Courts.
4. Fall registration began on Monday, September 12th. Brochures were mailed to
resident homes the end of August.
5. Registration for the first session of Skating School will be held on Monday,
September 19th
6. A survey has been mailed to this past summer's Pre School participants. Results
will be shared at the October meeting.
7. As requested by Chairman Druker, a Pre-School Camp Revenue Comparison
has been done. The fee this past summer reflects a zero percent subsidy and
there were 34 fewer campers attending.
The fee needs to be reconsidered for the 2012 camp season.
Ms. Fisher suggested that the Commission might want to consider a deep early
registration fee to increase attendance.
8. The Sport Court flooring has been removed and ice has been made. The first ice
rental for the season was on September 12th
9. The Hommocks Pool was closed from September 6th to 11th for the annual post
summer cleaning.
10.The annual maintenance to the Carpino-Steffens Fields was partially completed
as scheduled on Friday, August 26th. The fields were seeded, fertilized and
aerated. However, due to the storm forecast, the top dressing was postponed
until the next scheduled treatment in late November. LandTek did come back
after the storm and lightly top dressed low lying areas and divots.
11.The Hommocks Pool was closed Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th,
due to the forecast. All awnings and banners were down before the storm hit.
No damage was done to either the pool or the ice rink.
12.On August 18th, Joe Petrocca, the new maintenance person shared with the
Highway Department, unexpectedly resigned. Ken Paterno has returned part
time to his old job to help out.
13.Dorothy Puleo and Mary Ellen Faulkner continue to help out in the office filling
the position vacated by the two previous clerical staff members.
14.The 2012 proposed budget will be presented and reviewed at the October
meeting.
The Commission meeting night might need to be adjusted to accommodate the
Town Administrator's schedule.
Chairman Druker inquired if the Commission members would like to set an
alternative date at this time. The entire Commission agreed that Tuesday,
October 4th would be convenient for all.
CHAIRMAN'S UPDATE:
Chairman Druker inquired if the Commission had a preference as to a meeting site.
Both the Community Room at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink and the V.F.W Lodge are
available.
The Commission unanimously decided for the present time to keep meeting at the
V.F.W. Lodge.
ADJOURNEMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
