LETTER OF REQUEST FROM MIKE LOGA, PRESIDENT, MAMARONECK YOUTH HOCKEY
ASSOCIATION:
Mr. Mike Loga has written the Commission, on behalf of the Mamaroneck Youth Hockey
Association, requesting that they waive the fee for one or two hours of ice rental time the
Association has reserved for their annual "Turkey Shoot-Out Thanksgiving Tournament"
at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink.
On a motion by Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Boyle, the Commission
unanimously decided to waive the fee for two hours of the ice rental time that the
Mamaroneck Youth Hockey Association has reserved for their tournament.
NOT ON THE AGENDA:
The Town Board has requested that the Recreation Department reduce their 2012 Budget by an
additional $38,000.
Ms. Fisher stated that there are basically 2 ways to achieve this goal. One is to increase fees,
the other is to reduce services. Ms. Fisher also stated that continuing to increase fees is not an
option, based on prior conversations with the Recreation Commission.
At the request of the Town Board, the Commission is being asked to reduce the expenses at the
Hommocks Pool by reducing the pool hours of operation.
After discussing several options, the Commission decided to recommend to the Town Board the
following changes to the Hommocks Pool operating hours:
1. Close 30 minutes earlier each weeknight during the school year
(9:10 versus 9:40 P.M.)
2. Close 30 minutes earlier on Saturdays and Sundays during the school year
(noon to 6:10 P.M. rather than noon to 6:40 P.M.)
3. Discontinue early opening on school holidays and open regularly scheduled
hours on those days.
4. Eliminate Friday evening public swim hours throughout the school year.
(7:00 to 9:40 P.M.)
5. Open 1 hour later on weekdays during the last 3 weeks of the summer
Season.
(11:00 versus 10:00 A.M.)

NOT ON THE AGENDA CONTINUED:
6. Eliminate the male custodian during the summer season.
Commissioner Siskind feels that closing the main pool 30 minutes earlier on weeknights during
the summer(8:10 versus 8:40 P.M.) might be a better option than closing 30 minutes earlier on
Saturdays and Sundays during the school year.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by Commissioner
Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Siskind, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 P.M.'
