Lodge, 1288 Boston Post Road, Larchmont was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Druker. ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES: On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the Meeting Minutes of March 12, 2013 were unanimously approved as submitted. SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE: Ms. Fisher reported the following: 1. The Village of Larchmont and the Village of Mamaroneck have submitted their request for usage of the Hommocks Pool Facility for summer camp and approvals have been granted. 2. NBC Studios sent a Thank You letter for use of the Ice Rink. The pilot episode for Ironside was picked up and will be airing this fall. 3. Summer program registration is ongoing. Current registration numbers as of May 9th are as follows: Hommocks Playground - 231 Hommocks Extended Day - 18 Breakfast Club - 50 Pre School Camp - 74 Pre School Extended Day - 26 Monroe Pre School Camp - 91 Swim Lessons - 34 Tennis Camp - 46 Competitive Swim Team - 75 Golf Lessons/Camp - 30/11 The Camp Monroe lottery was not necessary. 4. Many of our spring aquatic programs are currently underway with the following enrollment numbers: Bubble Babies 16 Swim Lessons 68 Seahorses 8 Scuba Diving 5 Spring Warm-up 24 Lifeguarding Training 8 Team Barracuda Triathlon 23 Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes May 14, 2013 - Page 2 SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED: 5. Many of our spring youth and tot programs are currently underway with the following enrollment numbers: Cartooning 7 Dancing 60 Architectural Workshop 8 Cooking 17 Fencing 25 6. To date, 149 skaters have registered for the final session of Skating School. Last year in this session we had 53 participants. 7. The Hommocks Park Ice Rink will close for the season on June 13th 8. The Second Annual Ladies Bingo Night was held on Friday, April 26th. It was a huge success with 120 in attendance. Last year we had 62 participants. 9. The outdoor pools and lawn area are in the process of being prepared for the summer season. The outdoor facility will open and summer hours will begin on Saturday, June 15th 10.Two trees that were lost during Hurricane Sandy will be replaced. A 3rd tree will be planted in the mushroom pool area to provide much needed shade. 11.To date, we have received $3,950 in sponsorships for our summer concert series. 12.Wi-Fi services are being looked into for the ice rink and the pool lawn area at the pool. 13.Re-seeding of the Memorial Park lawn is scheduled to take place. Once it is seeded, the lawn will be closed for at least a month. 14.Installment of the ice rink lighting and fire alarm system is completed. Additional lighting has been added over the bleachers. 15.The Fall/Winter brochure is in the planning stages. Registration has been moved up to August 26th in order to start programs earlier in September. REQUEST FROM MR. MICHAEL MONTELONE: Mr. Michael Montelone has made a request to use the Hommocks Fields for a kickball league which would consist of 100 adults with 4 games going simultaneously for two hours on Sunday afternoons. On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the commission unanimously denied this request. Commissioner Paonessa suggested Mr. Montelone contact the county regarding the fields at Saxon Woods Park. REQUEST FROM MR. VLADIMIR BABADZHAN: Mr. Vladimir Babadzhan has made a request to rent the Hommocks Pool Monday — Friday, 1:30pm — 3:00pm for his music camp. On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Siskind, the commission unanimously denied his request. The Commission did authorize Ms. Fisher to offer him time prior to established swim hours if interested. REQUEST FROM JEFF BOYER: Mr. Jeff Boyer has made a request to rent 6 lanes of the Hommocks Pool on July 20th and 21st from 10:00 am — 11:30 am for a triathlon camp. On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the commission unanimously denied his request. The Commission did authorize Ms. Fisher to offer him time for a fee that covered all expenses in addition to an hourly rental fee if something could be worked out before public swim hours began. Nineteen scholarship applications were received, five had no financial information and one did not qualify due to current financial status. To date, $6,000 has been granted in scholarships. 2013-2014 FALL-WINTER PROGRAM FEES: On a motion by Commissioner Plansky, seconded by Chairman Druker, the following program fees were unanimously approved and adopted for the 2013-2014 Fall-Winter season. BBS Architects will be coordinating facility walk throughs and is gathering data on each facility. The RFP is scheduled to go out in approximately one month. Renovations are scheduled to begin on the rink as of April, 2014.
