December 10, 2013

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held at the VFW Lodge was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman
Druker.
ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES:
On a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the Meeting
Minutes of November 12, 2013 were unanimously approved as amended.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. Currently 134 children are registered in the Youth Hockey House League
program.
2. Session II of Skating School concludes on December 20th with an enrollment of
320. Last year, Session II had a total of 279 skaters registered.
3. A copy of the December Hommocks Park Ice Rink calendar is enclosed for
information purposes.
4. To date, 38 non-resident pool passes (for a total of$9,560) have been sold.
5. The Men's Basketball program is averaging 60 participants each night.
6. The Hommocks Park Ice Rink once again hosted the Town of Mamaroneck Fire
Department's Toy Drive on Sunday, December 15th
7. A copy of November, 2013 & 2012 general public rink attendance numbers was
enclosed for review.
8. Our Groupon.com deal is currently running with 944 already sold for a total of
$8,667.
9. The Carpino-Steffens Fields were aerated, top-dressed, seeded and fertilized on
November 25th. The fields are now closed until April.

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
10.The Recreation staff is currently working on the spring/summer brochure. The
goal is to have it online and out to all residents in early March. Registration is set
to begin on March 15th
11.The 2014 budget will be formally adopted on December 18th. There was no
change to our department's budget except for $3,000 to cover the expenses
associated with opening the pool one hour earlier on Holidays and school
vacations.
12.The replacement of the fencing around the Memorial Park Tennis courts for
$35,000 has been approved under the Capital Projects. Commissioner Sigel
inquired about the possibility of expanding the singles court into a doubles court
during this time. Ms. Fisher will look into this and advise the Commission of her
findings.
13.The repair and re-coating of the rubber play surface at Memorial Park
Playground for $7,000 has been approved under the Capital Projects.
14.The repairing of the black top play area at the Monroe facility for $9,000 has
been approved under the Capital Projects.
15.A feasibility analysis for the addition of a new sprayground and extending of the
outdoor pool area for $20,000 has been approved under the Capital Projects.
16.Invoices will be going out to Mamaroneck School District and Larchmont Junior
Soccer League for their field reimbursement costs.
17.Tentatively, Central School will be used for our Playground Camp and Sts. John
and Paul will be used for our Preschool Camp this summer due to the closure of
the ice rink.
18.Our new evening office hours will be from 6:00 — 8:00 PM effective January 15th
19.On December 2nd, the Ice Rink had a small gas leak which caused the gas to be
shut off for 2 '/2 days. The repairs were made at a cost of$6,000.
20.The Ice Rink has been decorated for the holidays.
21.Interviews will be held on December 10th with the companies that submitted
proposals for the ESCO project.
REQUEST FROM ELISABETH RADOW:
Ms. Elisabeth Radow from the League of Women Voters plans to hold the 2nd Annual
Community Yard Sale on Sunday, May 18, 2014. Ms. Radow has requested the Town
to fund a banner that would be hung across Palmer Avenue. Proceeds once again will
benefit the Hommocks Park Ice Rink Trust Fund.
REQUEST FROM NY RANGERS FOR ICE TIME:
The New York Rangers are interested in renting ice to host a fundraiser alumni game at
the Hommocks Ice Rink on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Proceeds from this
fundraiser in cooperation with Chase Bank will benefit the New Rochelle Youth Hockey
Association. This will be a ticketed event that will be open to the public and will generate
tremendous publicity for the Hommock Ice Rink. On a motion by Chairman Druker,
seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the request was unanimously approved. All in
favor.
REQUEST FOR DONATED ICE TIME FROM AARON PROCTOR:
Aaron Proctor from MYHA has requested a donation of 2 hours of ice time for their 5th
annual Turkey Shoot-out. On a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by
Commissioner Sigel, the request was unanimously approved. All in favor.

REQUEST FROM SWIM TEAM COMMITTEE:
Mrs. Jennifer Pollak, Aquatics Director and members of the Parents Swim Team
Committee, requested that the Commission allow them to hold a Swim Team
Invitational on a Friday night during the summer swim season at the Hommocks Pool.
They are requesting 2 hours in the main pool from 5:00 — 7:00 PM. During this time, the
pool complex will remain open. However, the main pool will be off limits to public
swimmers during this time. Residents can watch and cheer and a pool wide bbq is
planned. On a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Morello, the
request was unanimously approved for this summer and will be subject to annual
review. All in favor.
ESCO UPDATE:
Mr. Stephen Altieri, Town Administrator gave a brief update on the status of the ESCO
project. Interviews were held on December 10th with the 3 companies that submitted
proposals. A contract will be awarded by January 22nd so materials can be ordered. A
joint meeting with the Town Board, Recreation Commission and BBS Consultants will
be held on January 8th
FEES AND PERMITS:
Program, Camp and Permit fees will be discussed at the January meeting. Camp fees
have not been set due to the relocation of the Playground and Pre-School camps.
2014 RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING DATES:
On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the
Commission unanimously adopted the following meeting dates for 2013.

June 10th
July 8th
** August 5th or 12th
September 9th
October 7th
November 11 th
***December 9th
* Joint meeting with the Town Board at 5:30 pm, Town Center, Conference
Room D. Recreation Commission meeting to follow at 7:30 pm.
** To be determined based on camp dates.
*** Held at Hommocks Park Ice Rink, Community Room.
All meetings will begin at 7:30 P.M. in the V.F.W. Lodge, 1288 Boston Post Road in
Larchmont, except where noted.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Chariman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Morello, the meeting was adjourned at
8:45 P.M.
