Altieri, Town Administrator Eileen Puleo, Commission Secretary Robert Lunde, Ice Rink Manager CALL TO ORDER: The meeting held in the Community Room of the Hommocks Park Ice Rink was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Druker. ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES: On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the Meeting Minutes of September 24, 2013 were unanimously approved as submitted. SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE: Ms. Fisher reported the following: 1. Session 1 of Skating School was up this year with a total of 200 registered. Last year we had 177. 2. Registration for Session 1 of Skating School began on September 24th 3. As of October 22nd, all tennis programs will have concluded. 4. Currently, there are 79 children enrolled in Swim Lessons. Last year at this time 77 swimmers were registered. 5. The House League Youth Hockey Program will begin on November 10th 6. Several new Tot, Youth and Adult classes have started. 7. Our new Jr. Fencing and Fencing Teens Program began on October 3rd with 27 youth enrolled. 8. Our new Triathlon Swim program began on October 4th with 24 participants. 9. As of October 17th, all fall golf programs will have concluded with a total of 21 enrolled. 10.The Cut Hut will begin their fourth season at the ice rink. 11.A proposal from Land-Tek is enclosed for review. 12.The attendant at Memorial Park is no longer on duty. The courts will remain open until October 31st 13.As of November 1st, we will lose our shared maintenance man, Mike Gibson to the Highway Department. He will return to the Recreation Department on March 1, 3013. 14.Renovations to the kitchenette at the ice rink have been completed. 15.Rob Lunde and Mike Gibson have made a lot of cosmetic repairs at the Ice Rink. 16.Resident Survey results were included for review. 17.Permits have been filed for the new fire alarm system at the ice rink. Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes October 10, 2012 - Page 2 SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED: 18.Results from the rink electrical re-bid have been reviewed. The Town Board will award this bid at their next meeting. FACILITY USE REQUEST FROM BEN FOSTER: Mr. Ben Foster has requested use of the Memorial Park grass area for a profit based soccer program running 3 times a week. After a brief discussion, the commission unanimously agreed to establish a rate of $25/hour subject to future review for the Memorial Park grass area. A motion was made to approve this by Commissioner Rainaldi and seconded by Commissioner Boyle. All in favor. 2013 RECREATION DEPARTMENT PROPOSED BUDGET: Ms. Fisher reviewed the Proposed 2013 Recreation Department Budget. General A new line for water has been added to cover expenses related to Recreation: the Capino-Steffens Fields. Pool: Pool salaries will operate at the same expense. Rink: Ice Rink salaries will decrease by $19,000 due to the Ice Rink closing during the months of May and June for renovations. Spring Hockey will also be cancelled due to the renovations. The water bill for the Ice Rink will be lower now that the cost of watering the fields has been moved to General Recreation. Youth: Youth salaries will operate at the same expense. The number of contractual employees has increased to provide additional programs. Adult: Adult salaries will operate at the same expense. Program Clinic Instruction line has been decreased due to lower projected enrollment numbers. Revenue: All Ice Rink related revenue has been decreased due to the 2 month closure for renovations. Pool revenue will now be divided into two lines. Pool Admissions and Pool Programs. RESOLUTION: WHEREAS the Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission fully endorses the purchase of the Industrial Mechanical System option for the Hommocks Park Ice Rink upgrade including the addition of the new Zamboni garage with snow melt pit. The less vital locker room renovations should be considered at a later date, and should be paid for by future fundraising ventures. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by Commissioner Plansky, seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 P.M.'
