Joyce Callahan, Recreation Director for Larchmont, has informed us that they will be operating at full capacity this summer with space for approximately 300 participants. 9. We just renewed the sale of a dashboard ad at the rink for $750. 10.Due to new ADA standards taking effect March 15, 2012, all pools will be subject to accessibility with the exception of pools similar to our spray pool which is level with the ground. Due to the size of the main pool it will require two forms of accessibility and the training pool will need to be equipped with one form. Ms. Fisher hopes to get the district to cover the cost of the second access point in the main pool, since the Town purchased the current handicap lift there now. Further research will be needed regarding our options and cost to get the training pool up to compliance. Ms. Fisher will keep the Commission updated on this matter. After further discussion, the Commission asked if there is a possibility for an exemption due to the costly equipment needed to comply. Ms. Fisher stated that she would look into this request. 11.Ms. Fisher reviewed some of the concerns raised by patrons of the rink after viewing the segment that aired on the Today Show in February about air quality in ice rinks. A few emails and phone calls were received from concerned users. Enclosed is a copy of the letter that was provided to anyone with concerns. Copies were also made available at the rink, the Recreation Office, posted on the Town's website and forward to MYHA President, Don Kerr and Youth Hockey Director, Bob Greason. 12.A meeting was held with Steve Altieri, Rob Lunde and Richard Ward to resume discussions on the ice rink feasibility study. The goal is to begin construction April 1, 2012 and complete the work in time for a September 1st reopening. This may require re-locating the Hommocks Playground Camp for the summer, or possibly separating the camp into different locations to house all the participants and staff. Dialogue has begun with school officials regarding this possibility. The Commission expressed concerns about the construction time needed to renovate the Ice Rink, and its interference with Hommock's Playground Camp. The Commissioners unanimously agreed to start construction no matter the inconvenience. The investment is important for the community and will bring in revenue. Commissioner Paonessa would like to discuss holding the camp at the Harbor Island with the use of tents. Commissioner Paonessa offered to contact the Village of Mamaroneck for use of their space. The Commission also inquired if the Hampshire Country Club would be an option for the camp, Ms. Fisher will look in to it. ANNUAL CHARITY FIRE DEPARTMENT HOCKEY GAME: On a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Paonessa, the Commission agreed to waive the ice rental fee for the annual Town of Mamaroneck vs Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department Hockey Game.
