MEETING MINUTES
September 29, 2015

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held in the VFW Lodge, 1288 Boston Post Road was called to order at
7:20 P.M. by Chairman Druker.
ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES:
On a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the Meeting
Minutes of August 11, 2015 were unanimously approved as submitted.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. There will no longer be an attendant at the Memorial Park Tennis Courts after
September 30th. The courts will remain open without an attendant until the end
of October.
2. Registration for the first session of Skating School was held on September 21st
Current enrollment for Session 1 is at 215.
3. A copy of the October ice rink calendar is enclosed for your review.
4. All fall aquatic programs will begin on October 3rd with 111 participants in Tot and
Youth swim lessons.
5. The Third Annual Try Hockey For Free program will take place on November 7th
6. House League Hockey is set to begin on November 14th
7. The Future Rangers program began on September 19th. Each participant will
receive a Future Ranger Jersey and a Certificate of Completion.
8. Fall tennis programs began the week of September 16th
9. All Kayaking and Paddle Boarding programs that took place at Harbor Island
have finished up.
10.Fall Golf programs are fully enrolled with 36 participants.
11.Our first ice rental was Monday, August 31st and public skating will begin on
October 1st

12.Again this season we will be working with Groupon on a discounted admission
coupon. Our previous campaigns with Groupon have been a huge success.
13.The camp tent was disassembled and put away on August 14th. The annual
maintenance to the fields was completed on August 28th by Landtek and the
fields re-opened on September 12th
14.The Hommocks Park Ice Rink website has been moved over to the Town of
Mamaroneck's website. This will allow us to maintain and update the website
ourselves.
15.A new fence has been installed at the back of the rink.
16.The Ice Rink has picked up some additional ice rentals this fall. Fordham
University which practiced at the Ice Hutch has taken some ice rental time due to
renovations at their facility and Studio Image has booked some off season time.
17.The School District has finally given us 3 years' worth of pool invoices. These
invoices will need to be looked into further and Ms. Fisher will share her findings
at a later meeting.
18.Some additional maintenance will be performed on the outdoor pools before they
are completely closed up for the winter. The pool lawn will be top dressed,
aerated and re-seeded.
LETTER FROM MRS. JODI RITTER:
A letter from Mrs. Jodi Ritter was received commending the extraordinary job that was
done by the Hommocks On The Go staff. Mrs. Ritter's girls had an amazing time and
will be back for the 2016 camp season.
LETTER FROM MR. RALPH ENGEL:
Mr. Engel, a long-time Town of Mamaroneck resident would like the Recreation
Department to look into some additional playground equipment for children under the
age of 2 at Memorial Park. Memorial Park currently has playground equipment for 2 — 5
year olds and 5 — 12 year olds. Mr. Engel has offered to help get a grant to pay for the
cost of such equipment. Ms. Fisher will look into the possibility of adding some
additional playground equipment suitable for this younger age. At this point, space may
be an issue.
2016 RECREATION DEPARTMENT PROPOSED BUDGET:
Ms. Fisher reviewed the Proposed 2016 Recreation Department Budget.
EXPENSES:
General: Additional field maintenance and increased water costs. Promote
Eileen Puleo to Recreation Leader.
Pool: School pool bill increase.
Rink: The Rink to pick up 1/3 of Mike Gibson's salary. Rink electric
increase is based on actual usage. Service Agreements — new
maintenance contract for Rink equipment and cooling tower
treatments and inspections.
Youth: Expand the travel camp from 18 participants to 30 participants and
upgrade to a larger air conditioned bus. Offer Hommocks campers
two off site trips rather than just one.

2016 RECREATION DEPARTMENT PROPOSED BUDGET:
EXPENSES CONTINUED:
Adult: No Major changes were made.
Memorial Operating costs for 2016 5K Bunny Run added.
Park:
REVENUE:
Adult: Minimal increase.
Youth: Increased due to additional programs planned and the addition of
more participants for the Hommocks On The Go Camp. Camp fees
have also increased.
Pool Admiss: Decreased due to lower permit sale projections.
Pool Progs: Increased due to expected increase in aquatic programming
participation.
Rink Admiss: Increased due to fee increase.
Ice Rentals: Increased due to ice rental rate increase and additional rentals.
Hockey: Decreased based on participation numbers.
Skating Increased due to increased participation.
School:
Swim Club: Increased based on participation numbers.
2016 CAPTIAL PROJECTS
General Install video surveillance system at all Recreational Facilities
Recreation: including Hommocks Park Ice Rink, Hommocks Outdoor Pool
Complex, Hommocks Parking Lot and Memorial Park. Computer
tablet for shared office use while out at programs. Establish a
kayak launch area providing access to the Long Island Sound.
Pool: Hire an architect to help design and improve upon our existing
outdoor pool. Open up the brick wall separating the outdoor pool
lawn and the Concession area.
Rink: Replace valves on sewer ejector pumps at Ice Rink. Door
replacement for Ice Rink interior Community Room. Replace
current rink walkway and pool lawn lights with LED heads and new
posts.

Monroe Facility: Replace awning on outdoor pavilion.
ADJOURNEMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the meeting was adjourned at
8:45 P.M.
