ICE RENTAL FEES:
In preparation for the 2016 budget, the Recreation Department is being asked to
generate an additional $50,000 in revenue from the ice rink to help offset the cost of the
new debt service payment of approximately $330,000. After much discussion, the
Commission agreed to increase the ice rental rate by $15 an hour to $475. All General
Admission Fees will also be increased an additional $.50. It is expected that these
increases will generate approximately, $28,000 in additional revenue. Additional monies
may come from raising the Hommocks Playground camp fees and allocating a set dollar
amount per camper back to the rink to help offset the costs involved with using this
facility in the summer. After a brief discussion, the Commission unanimously decided to
table this item for a future meeting .However, on a motion from Commissioner Morello,
seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the Commission unanimously agreed to increase
the rink fees as discussed.
MAMARONECK YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION:
The Mamaroneck Youth Hockey Association has requested additional ice time that is
currently being rented to Greenwich Skating Academy. Greenwich has been a longtime
renter with the Town and after a brief discussion; the Commission unanimously decided
that ice time would not be taken away from Greenwich but that any alternative ice slots
that could be found would be made available to MYHA instead.
