MEETING MINUTES
February 20, 2018

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held at the VFW was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Chairman Druker.
ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES:
On a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Rainaldi, the Meeting
Minutes of December 5, 2017 were unanimously approved.
CORRESPONDENCE:
1. An email from Ms. Bari Suman, MHS Athletic Director was received regarding the
Early Morning Swim Program. The Mamaroneck School District will honor the
sharing and dividing of the pool fee three ways during the 6:00 â 7:30 A.M. time
slot for the 2017-2018 school year. This arrangement will be re-evaluated in
June, 2018.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. Classes for Session 4 of Skating School began on February 6th. Current
enrollment is at 325 and registration is on-going.
2. Enclosed is a copy of the February Hommocks Park Ice Rink Calendar of Events.
Mickey Mouse and Scooby Doo will be visiting the Ice Rink in February.
3. Enclosed for your review are the January 2017 and 2018 Rink General Public
Skating Admission Numbers. Admissions totaled over $23,000 over the Martin
Luther King weekend.
4. The Winter Festival was held at the Ice Rink on Sunday, January 28th and was a
big success. Admissions for the day totaled approximately $10,000.
5. The NY Rangers Assist Charity Hockey Game was held at the Ice Rink on
January 19th to benefit MYHA and was a big success. The event raised over
$60,000 for MYHA to be used toward scholarships.
6. Our winter programs are all underway. We are offering a Brick Kids program
over the February recess for children in grades Kâ 3. Thank you to Linda
Tedesco owner of Brick Kids who waived the fee for two children who were left
homeless after the Dillon Road apartment fire.

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
7. Our next Adult and Youth Paint Party will be held on Friday, March 2nd.
8. Enclosed is a flyer regarding the upcoming 4th Annual 5K Run and Lil' Bunny
Hop scheduled for Sunday, April 22nd.
9. Registration for the Teen Travel Camp is underway. Session 1 has 27
participants enrolled and Session 2 has a current enrollment of 23. A copy of the
Teen Travel Camp Handbook is enclosed.
10.The spring/summer brochure has been mailed out to all residents and is also
available on our website. Resident registration begins Monday, March 5th. A
copy of the newly designed brochure is also enclosed in your packet.
11.The 2nd Annual Family Bingo Night was held on Friday, January 19th. We had
72 participants who had a great time. Last year's enrollment was 49.
12.We have been informed from the School District that Central School will be the
site for our Pre-School summer camp.
13.The Learn to Play Hockey program co-sponsored with the NY Rangers was well
attended with 65 participants enrolled. Players were visited by NY Ranger
Alumni, Brian Mullen and Adam Graves.
14.The Town Board has reviewed the Kayak Feasibility Study Draft Report. The
Board is very excited about this potential opportunity and has asked Mr.
Reichgott to complete the study with a conceptual design and estimated pricing.
15.The Mamaroneck School District has reached out to Stephen Altieri, Town
Administrator, with plans to demolish the Central School Tennis Courts. The
Town is supporting this development with hopes that this space will be developed
for recreational use.
16.A photo is enclosed of the new additional monitor that has been installed in the
back of the ice rink to display looker room assignments.
17.The Mamaroneck School Board has informed the Town that they will be putting
the analysis on the Hommocks Pool on hold until the fall season. Dr. Robert
Shaps, School Superintendent has stated that all their focus is currently on trying
to solve the overcrowding issues within the district.
18.The rink/pool concession expansion plan is moving forward and is on schedule.
Mr. Lucas is doing his best with making payments and we are in the process of
looking for potential other options.
19.The Town is currently looking for a company with experience with ice rinks to
help with the design phase of adding additional locker rooms and showers to the
back side of the ice rink. There is no further update at this time.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Sigel, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50
P.M.
