MEETING MINUTES
March 10, 2015

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held at the VFW Lodge was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Commissioner
Rainaldi.
ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES:
On a motion by Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Paonessa, the
Meeting Minutes of February 17, 2015 were approved as submitted.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. Brochures were mailed out the week of February 23rd. Registration for Camp
and Individual Tennis begins on Saturday, March 16th. All forms can be found on
our website.
2. Registration for Session 5 of Skating School begins on March 16th.
3. Tennis permit application forms have been mailed out to all 2014 permit holders.
4. General admission attendance numbers for February 2014 and 2015 are
enclosed for review. Our Groupon offer has been extended in an attempt to
increase spring attendance numbers.
5. A copy of the March Hommocks Park Ice Rink calendar is enclosed for your
information.
6. Winter programs are ending in March. Spring sessions are set to begin in April.
7. Our Adult Triathlon program has been successful with 21 enrolled.
8. A grant from USA Hockey for $3,250 has been received to cover half the cost of
our new cross ice boards which will be delivered on Friday, March 6th
9. The Hommocks pool will be closed over the Spring Break for annual
maintenance.

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
10.Summer concert sponsorship letters have gone out.
11.Flyers for two programs being offered for kids during Spring Break are enclosed.
12.An invoice has been sent to the NY Rangers in the amount of$2,000 for
reimbursement for the February 21st Skate for Free Day.
13.A flyer announcing our upcoming Paint Escape nights is enclosed. These have
been quite successful.
14.Our 1st Annual 5K Bunny Run and Lil' Bunny Run is scheduled to take place on
March 22nd
15.A copy of the Spring Youth Hockey flier is enclosed for review. Spring Hockey
begins on March 28th
16.Maintenance on the fields will take place the week of March 16th, weather
permitting.
17.The Memorial Park Tennis Courts will open on April 1st and an attendant will be
on duty starting May 1st
18.The new rink signs are ready for installation.
19.The replacement glass for the ice rink has arrived and will be scheduled for
installation as soon as possible.
20.The dasher boards were not replaced as previously scheduled the week of
February 23rd. This work will now take place mid-June.
21.The new signs at Memorial Park will be installed as soon as ground conditions
improve.
22.No new updates to report at this time on MYHA's collaboration request with the
Town Recreation House League program.
REQUEST FROM RICHARD ELLENBOGEN AND REBECCA DE LAET:
Richard Ellenbogen and Rebecca De Laet from Team Image Synchronized Skating
made a presentation to the Recreation Commission. Team Image is looking for
additional ice time for their Synchronized Skating program. They have approximately 80
participants on the team. They are willing to take any available time that the ice rink
may have. The Commission stated they would love to have a program like this skating
at our rink. Team Image will work with Rob Lunde, Ice Rink Manager to try and secure
available ice time.
DISCOUNTED ICE RINK RENTAL FEE FOR SPRING 2015:
Rob Lunde, Ice Rink Manager made a proposal to discount the spring ice rental fee
from $460/hr. to $400/hr. in April and $375/hr. in the months of May and June.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner Plansky, the meeting adjourned at
8:15 P.M.
