MEETING MINUTES
April 17, 2018

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held at the VFW Lodge was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Chairman
Druker.
ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES:
On a motion by Commissioner Paonessa, seconded by Chairman Druker, the Meeting
Minutes of March 20, 2018 were unanimously approved as submitted.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1. Summer program registration is ongoing. Current registration numbers as of
April 12th are as follows:
Hommocks Playground - 386
Hommocks Extended Day - 79
Breakfast Club - 120
Central Pre School Camp - 64
Monroe Pre School Camp - 67
Swim Lessons - 152
Teen Travel - 72
2. Many of our spring programs are currently underway.
3. Spring Tennis programs will begin the second week of May.
4. Golf lessons for adults and youths will begin the end of April. Lessons will take
place at Saxon Woods Golf Course.
5. Our first Outdoor Movie in the Park will take place on Friday, May 18th. We will
be showing Despicable Me 3.
6. Session 5 of Skating School began on March 20th with 255 enrolled. Last year
at this time, we had an enrollment of 266 participants.
7. The May and June calendars for the Hommocks Park Ice Rink are enclosed for
your information.
8. The March attendance numbers are enclosed for review. March attendance
was down due to a snow storm closure.
9. A copy of the Fall/Winter House League Hockey Program survey results are
enclosed for your review. We are pleased with this year's results and it
appears that our extra efforts were well appreciated.
10.The attendance numbers for our new Stick and Puck Time at the ice rink were
84. This program was held over the spring school vacation and generated
$1,800 in new revenue.

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
11.The Spring Hockey program began on Saturday, April 14th. Current enrollment
is at 90 participants. Last year we had 70 participants enrolled at this time.
12.The Learn to Play Hockey Program in cooperation with the NY Rangers
concluded on March 29th with a net revenue of$5,900.
13.The Chess Wizard program which was offered during spring break had 18
children enrolled and Mad Science had 13 enrolled.
14.The Ice Breaker Hockey Tournament will take place between April 26th —
April 30th. There will be 14 teams participating in this year's event. The net
revenue will get deposited into the Ice Rink's Locker-Room Trust Fund.
15.The 4th Annual 5K Run and Lil' Bunny Run is scheduled for Sunday, April 22nd
Current enrollment is at 193. Last year we had 133 enrolled at this time.
16.An adult and youth Paint Party with Nando will be held on Friday, May 4th.
17.The April Lifeguarding class has 9 participants.
18.The spring session of the Early Morning Swim program has15 participants
enrolled. This session is operating at a loss of approximately $1,500. We only
had 18 enrolled in the winter session which also ran at a loss of approximately
$1,900. We will need to re-evaluate the continuation of this program.
19.Currently, 9 scholarships have been received and are under review.
20.The spring maintenance on the Hommocks Fields was completed on March
27th. The opening date was delayed until April 9th due to inclement weather.
21.Recreation Department staff members have been busy recruiting and hiring
employees for the various summer positions.
22.Rob Lunde and Jill Fisher met with Mr. Daniel Tenney, Lead Architect with
Weston and Sampson to discuss the locker room/shower addition at the Ice
Rink. Weston and Sampson is interested in submitting a proposal to the Town.
23.A presentation from Mr. Jay Reichgott regarding the Kayak Feasibility Study
was presented to the Town Board on March 22nd. After a brief discussion, the
Board came to the conclusion that a Kayak Launch Facility was not practical.
24.We have several contractors interested in bidding on the rink concession
expansion project. Currently, this project is on schedule.
FACILITY REQUEST FOR USE OF CARPINO-STEFFENS FIELDS:
Facility requests for use of the Carpino-Steffens Fields were submitted from Ms. Bari
Suman, Mamaroneck School District, Athletic Director. On a motion by Commissioner
Rainaldi, seconded by Chairman Druker, the commission unanimously approved the
field usage requested by Ms. Suman. All in favor.
REQUEST FROM JENNIFER POLLAK, AQUATICS DIRECTOR:
On behalf of the Town of Mamaroneck Swim Club, Jennifer Pollak, Aquatics Director
has requested to host the Fifth Annual Invitational Swim Meet on Friday, July 13th at the
Hommocks Pool. The event would have a starting time of 5:30 PM at the Hommocks
Pool and would require closing down the main pool for public swimming at that time.
The outdoor pools and lawn area would remain open to the public and patrons would be
encouraged to watch the meet. A BBQ will be held offering food for purchase for all pool
patrons. Chairman Druker made a motion to approve this request, seconded by
Commissioner Plansky. All in favor.
MEMORIAL PARK USAGE FEE:
Jill Fisher, Superintendent of Recreation has requested to increase the Memorial Park
Field usage fee from $35.00 an hour to $45.00 an hour. Chairman Druker made a
motion to approve this request, seconded by Commissioner Morello. All in favor.

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
STICK AND PUCK TIME:
Vicky Laoutaris, Recreation Supervisor has proposed a new spring Stick and Puck
program. Stick & Puck Time will run May through June on Tuesdays, Thursdays &
Saturdays. The proposed fees for this new program are: $30 per day for Residents and
$35 per day for Non-Residents with a $5.00 discount for anyone registering for more
than one session. On a motion by Commissioner Rainaldi, seconded by Commissioner
Orans, the commission unanimously approved the new fees.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by
Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Sigel, the meeting adjourned at
7:50 P.M.
