Tut. Presents Supervisor Burton Justices Boyd, Leeds and Messersmith Town Clerk Marvin Counselor Gamble The Supervisor announced the purpose of the meeting was to consider the request of the County Transportation Company to amend the consent heretofore granted. Counselor Gamble on behalf of the Special Committee appointed to consider this request presented the following report: To the Supervisor and Members of the Tov?n Board of the Town of Hamaroneck: Your committee heretofore appointed to look into and report on the petition of the County Transportation Company , Inc. , to amend two of its routes, herewith reports as follows :— . ii AMFUDIENT TO ROUTI' NO. 2. This route is known as Larchmont Manor Mamaroneck line and runs from Larchmont Manor to the Larchmont station up Chatsworth Avenue to the Woods of Larchmont, thence to Weaver Street and down Weaver Street to Harmon Drive , through Harmon Drive to the New Haven station in the Village of Mamaroneck. The petition requests permission to discontinue the line from the corner of Weaver Street and Harmon Drive to the Village of Mamaroneck-New Haven station. This Board. can only consider the amendment of the route from the corner of Weaver Street and Harmon Drive easterly to the Town line , the balance of the route comes under the jurisdiction of the Village of Mamaroneck. The Company alleges that part of the route which it seeks to discontinue has always been and is still being run at an operating loss beyond the point a-bove stated and that it is little used. I The Committee feels that it sIvuld have more facts and figures on which to base a decision in the matter and has asked the representatives of the Company to appear at a special meeting of the Board to be held on January 31st, at which the matter will receive further consideration. The Committee finds that there is objection to the dis- continuance of the line by certain residents along Harmon Drive , 1Trho allege that the discontinuance of the bus will leave them - without service to the Larchmont railroad station and without bus service for school children. The Committee understands that no action has been taken by the Village Board of the Village of Mamaroneck, which is nec- essary in this connection. Q The Company has also asked permission between October 1st and June 1st to suspend the operation of buses over that part of Route 'No. 1 known as the Larehmont-Rye Beach line as lies be- tween the intersection of Keeler Avenue and the Boston Post Road and the Village of Mamaroneck and Playland in the Village of Rye, making the operation over this route optional on the grounds that it is run at an operating loss and that it is not used, particular- Ty in the winter time . and if it could be discontinued in the winter months the Company could carry it in the summer months. In this connection the Company has also made an operat- ing agreement with the North Street 'Transportation Company which gives it the right to operate buses from the Harrison station to Rye Beac'n, and as it will give transfersr service to Rye Beach can be obtained by this means. The Company is also applying for a new route. The Committee believes that under the circumstances the request in the petition to modify the Larchmont Rye Beach line is proper and should bquitably be granted. The Committee is informed by Counsel that before action is taken on the matter by the Town Board a Public Hearing should be called and held, at which the petition should be considered, and so recommends. Respectfully submitted January 28th, 1930 Ralph A. Gamble Justice idessersmith reported that the committee had met with a similar special committee of the Village of Dlamaroneck and that it was the unanimous opinion of both committees that it would - work unnecessary hardships to change the route of the Rye-Beach line. +71r. Smith of the County Transportation Company was present in person and presented figures on behalf of the request of the consent by the County Transportation Company., After considerable discussion it was decided that in- sufficient figures had been presented by the Transportation Company to warrant action at this time , and -upon motion by Justice Messer- smith, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was RFSOLVT.D, that the meeting recess until February 14th at 3:34 P.M. or another date if necessaryt at which time complete figures showing the returns from the Town of Mamaroneck and the entire system can be presented and further consideration given the reouest. Upon motion the meeting adjourned at 3 :30 P. IL Town Clerk "
