Sustainability/Near Zero Waste Community—TOM Summer Concert Series and Promoting/Selling Rain Barrels
Tony mentioned that last year's concert series included a strong effort to have separate receptacles for recycling,
food trash, papers and liquids. This year's effort will be similar;Sue and Zoe to make signs for each collection
area. All agreed that rain barrels are to be sold at TOM Concerts. Town Highway personnel to bring six barrels
to Memorial Park and Collabs staff can take checks or cash for purchases. Sue to bring various
brochures/pamphlets for Collaborative table and Collaborative banner and work at the 4 concerts. Mitch agreed
to volunteer for first concert on 7/11 with George and Zoe. Tony offered to help on 7/18(update, 7/18 rained
out);Michele will assist on 7/25 and Marc on 8/1. Need assistance on 8/8(raindate added). Tony offered to
bring Red Cross Emergency Homeplan Preparedness Info and give out as a raffle giveaway.
Sustainability/Air&Noise Pollution—Fall Education and Outreach
The Collaborative would like to hold a Fall event in October to make residents aware of environmental initiatives
such as mulchmowing, Quiet Leafblowers, permeable pavers and reducing fertilizer use. Flyer or handout to be
made to give out potentially at upcoming concert promoting this. Nancy mentioned that perhaps Patti Woods
could come to the Fall event. Tony asked what is our number one priority for the Fall? (to be discussed among
the full group...) Michele would like to follow up with Khris Dobson to see if he can attend our August meeting
and perhaps help out with Fall event. Michele also to send Sue list of Permeable Paver vendors. Nancy spoke
about Howell Park, perhaps, becoming the first Low-Nitrogen Fertilizer/No Pesticide neighborhood in the Town,
due to other proposed neighborhood being reluctant. (MENTION FAIRWAY GREEN BY NAME?)
Resilient Infrastructure—Green Infrastructure/Town Center Parking Lot
Mitch said he is very much looking forward to seeing the green infrastructure plans for the parking lot and is
hoping the Town uses their budget creatively. Nancy emphasized that although the Town is very committed to
certain aspects of green infrastructure, we are restricted to a budget of$150,000 because that was the amount
of the grant the Town was awarded.
