HomeMy WebLinkAbout1936_10_07 Town Board Minutes REGULAR MEETING AND TWO HEARINGS BY AND BEFORE THE TO10 BOARD, TOWN OF MAMARONECK, NEW YORK HELD OCTOBER 7, 1936 At the Town Offices, 158 'Nest Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, IQ. Y. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor :McCulloch at 8:05 P. Pd. Present: Supervisor McCulloch Councilmen Brennan, Griffin, Meginniss Absent: Councilman Bates The presence was also noted of Town Clerk Marvin and Town Attorney Deli-as. The Supervisor stated that the first order of business would be a public hearing on the application of Bernacchia Bros. , Inc. for the consent of the Town of Mamaroneck under the provisions of Sections 66 and 67 of the Transportation Corporations Law of the State of New York, in accordance with the action taken by the Board at its meeting on September 16, ' 1936. The Town Clerk presented an affidavit of publication certifying that due notice in accordance with the law had been given of the hearing. The Supervisor inquired if there was anyone present who desired to speak in opposition to the request of the petitioners. There was no one present who so desired. The Supervisor inquired if there was anyone present who desired to speak in favor of the petition. Mr. Solomon Paseltiner of counsel for the petitioners stated that he represented them and briefly explained the nature of the request. There being no other persons present who desired to address the Board in connection with this petition, the Supervisor declared the hearing adjourned. The Board unanimously agreed to lay the petition over for con- sideration at an adjourned meeting of the Town Board to be held on Wednesday, October 14, 1936. The Supervisor stated that the next order of business would be a hearing on a petition filed by the owners of property fronting or abutting on a portion of Carlson Avenue as extended, requesting the ex- tension and construction of a lateral sewer in and under said Carlson Avenue as extended, pursuant to Section 199 of the Town Law. The Town Clerk presented an affidavit of publication certifying that due notice in accordance with the law had been given of the hearing and also an affidavit certifying that copies of the notice of the hearing had been posted pursuant to Section 199 of the Town Law and that he had also caused to be mailed a copy of the notice to all public service cop- porations, the names of which appear on the last completed assessment roll of the Town of Mamaroneck. The Supervisor inquired if there was anyone present who desired to speak in opposition to the request of the petitioners. There was no one present who so desired. The Supervisor inquired if there was anyone present who desired to speak in favor of the petition. Mr. Howell C. Perrin, representing the Estate of Cecilia A. Howell, addressed the Board on behalf of the petitioners. 277 There being no other persons present who desired to address the Board in connection with this petition, the Supervisor declared the hearing adjourned. The Supervisor stated that out of respect to the memory of Mrs. George V. Bates, wife of Town Councilman Bates, whose death occurred on October 6, 19362 it would be in order for the Board to dispose only of such business as could not be put over and then adjourn the meeting until October 14, 1936. On motion by Mr. Meginniss, seconded by Mr. Griffin, it was unanimously RESOLVED that the Clerk be and he hereby is directed to have published in The Daily Times, a newspaper published and having a general circulation in the Village and Town of Mamaroneck, the following notice: PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck until 1-30 o' clock P. M. - on the 15th day of October, 1936, at the Town Office, 158 "West Boston Post Road in the Village of Mamaroneck, New York, for the pur- pose of furnishing winter uniforms for the Police Department of the Town of Mamaroneck in accordance with specifications now on file in the Office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Mamaroneck, 158 West Boston Post Road, in the Village of Mamaroneck, New York. Copies of the specifications and all instructions to bidders may be obtained from the Town Clerk. The Town Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids. MARVIN Town Clerk The Town Clerk recommended that the Board amend the resolution adopted at its meeting on August 18, 1936, designating the places for registration and voting in the Town so as to change three of the places thus designated, on the grounds that these places would not prove satis- factory for the General Election. On motion by Mr. Griffin, seconded by Mr. Brennan, it was unanimously RESOLVED that the resolution adopted by this Board at its meeting on August 18, 1936, designating the places for registration and voting in the Town of Mamaroneck be and it hereby is amended to the extent that the following described polling places be changed as herein- after set forth: DISTRICT N0. 2 From 340 Mamaroneck Avenue to 382 Mamaroneck Avenue, Mamaroneck, N. Y. DISTRICT NO. 9 From 136 Boston Post Road to 158 Larchmont Avenue, Larchmont, N. Y. 7 DISTRICT N0. 11 From 170 Myrtle Boulevard to 29 Murray Avenue, Larchmont , N. Y. The Supervisor appointed a committee consisting of Mr. Griffin, Chairman, and Mr. Brennan to prepare a suitable resolution of sympathy to be extended to Mr. Bates on the death of Mrs. Bates. At 8:15 P. M. on motion by Mr. Meginniss, seconded by the entire Board, the Board by a standing vote unanimously resolved to ad- journ out of respect to the memory of Mrs. Bates, to meet again on October 14, 1936.
