The meeting was called to order by Supervisor EcCullocn at

attorney Delius.
The Board immediately went into executive session and dis-
cussed vrith^ lire Td.ward . ogan of the County Attorney ' s Office the natter
of taxes owed to the Town by the `vlestchester County Sanitary Se,,7e'r
Comsni scion, the Westchester County Park Comission and the County of
Westcihester on certain property o;�aned by them in the Tovrn of SuiamaronecL>
H"r. Hogan requested that the To*r'rn accept payment of these to„es at the
face amount thereof plus si:-, percent (6,a') interest to date. He stated
that these ta_.es had not been paid previously because of the delay in-
volved in making a final determination of the property actually involved.
On motion by ? r. Griffin, seconded by 1,_r. Bates , it was
unanimously

the taxes owed by them to the Town together with

At the conclusion of the cvecutive session the Board convened
in open session.
The minutes of the meeting of June 19 , 1935, were a-oproved
as printed.
The regular order of business was suspended in order to hear
Fire Chief Richard B. LeVino who desired to address the Board.
In this connection the Cler'r read a letter from the Chief
dated July 10, 1935, submitting the -names of those members of the de-
- partmcnt regularly elected subseciuen , to I;"arch 2, 1935, who have passed
satisfactorily the custornory probationary period and recommending the
ratification of the election of these men b the Ton Board and- also
submitting the names of those men of the department who have passed
satisfactorily the tests for emergency driver and recommending that
their a_opointrnent be ratified by the Board.

On motion by Hr. Brennan, seconded by I-r. Griffin, it was
unanimously
RESOLZE'D, that on the recommendation of the Tire
Council of the Toren of Jlamaroneclk Robert Gibson, 683
Forest Avenue, Larchmont, be and he hereby is appointed
apparatus driver at a salanj at the rate of `219800 per
annum effective July 15, 1935, on the condition that
this appointment be made subject to a preliminary
probationary period of three months and a phy sicaI
examination..
The Clerk read a letter from the Eire C'nief dated July 17 ,
1935, -recommending the installation of five additional hydrants and.
— changes in the location of several of the existing hydrants. The
matter Baas referred to Ir. Brennan.
Chief IeVino stated to the Board that the flag pole in front
of the firehouse ti=ra.s in need of repair. After discussion he stated he
vrould ta'te the matter up 1,1fith s r. Brennan.

Fire Chief L.eVino also addressed the Board concerning the
matter of lack of street signs. The matter „ras 'referred to l; r. Brennan.
Itir. Corwin, Superintendent of Se';ers, addressed the Board
concerning the matter of his salary and that of Clovis Reid, setter
plant operator. z=s stated that at the time the 1935 Toz-rn of Tlama_r�oneck
budget had been prepared an agreement had been -reached ti=rith the ';`iest-
chester CountlY Sanitary Sewer Cornriiission providing that one-half of his
salary and one-half of the salary of the plant operator be paid 'by the
Tovn and one-half be paid by the raestchester County Sanitary Severer Com-
mission. Beginning Ja1y 1, 1935, he stated, the County had altered this
arrangement so as to pay all of the salary of the plant cPera.tor and none
of the salary of I;l'r. Cortrin. If the Turn were t . assume the obligation
to pay all the salary of fir. Gorrrin for the rcmainin�g six months of the
year, an additional appropriation of '?250 trould be required. The Board
discussed the matter and, laid it over for further consideration.

1935. _after discussion -ra Bates and r-r. Corwin vaere requested. to take
the matter up vaith T.?r. '=vocd of the Occtun_ Realty Co.
The Supervisor reported on. the financial affairs of the Tovan,
stating that cash in banns amounts to about ,100,000 and that all of
the 1955 levy due to the County has been paid to the County ,except
X50 ,000 which is not payable until October 1, 1935.
Councilman Brennan re-_oorted that the street light authorized
on Blossom Terrace had been installed; that the Hig1miay Department was
repairi ,g or replacing a considerable number of sidevialks, and that

"r, Griffin -oresented data on the ope'ratici� of the ;welfare
Department for the first six months of the current year, stating that
during this period the average cost per day per individual on home re-
lief amounts to thirtl=-three cents (335 )
The Torn Attorney presented a written "Report to the Town
Board of 'TZ,amarone C'k, on the ='acquisition of Streets In -`oulien
_— Glen". the report was laid over..
The Town Attorney reported on the request from Iir. Irving
=Vein for "some relief" under Section 40 of the Tax Law with respect
to taxes ora ng on Section 9 , Block 12, Lots 39 11, 129 13 and lo, which
matter had been referred to him at a. previous meeting. He stated that
in accordance with the provisions of the Tax Lavr he had obtained ap-
_oraisels of thi s property vrhich Tiaas shown to be of greater value than
the unpaid, taxes thereon and that he ,fill so notify T.=r. Wein..
The Tov,,,n Attorney reported: that he had conferred urith Yr.
Ho ^.rell C. Perrin, representing the "state of Cecilia = ® Ho.fell, con-
certding the offer of said estate to dedicate and deed to the Tovm the
land necessary for an extension of Carieon Avenue in Howell Par'_-. He
stated that he had examined the deed tendered by .'-r. Perrin and that he
recommended acceptance thereof

Board and the Superintendent of Highways of the Town
of Damaroneck to extend a certain street 1 ot?r_ as
Carleon Avenue in t 1a.t section of the Town molum as
-- Hovrell Park and offered to dedicate and deed. the land
necessary therefor to the Toian of Tllamaronecir and re-
quested Uhat said Town and SU-,erintendent of '=ighways
accept said extension as a Towii highvray; and.

The 'TO,rn attorney reported on the matter of the proposed
establishment of a garbage district, tirrhich matter had been laid over
at the previous meeting, He stated that in order that such a district
might be Established, it is necessary that a. petition be submitted to
the Town Board by the owners cf not less than one-half of the assessed
valuation within the boundaries of the proposed district and also by
not less than one-half of the resident o,.;ri ers pursuant to =article 12.

A letter dated June 279 1935, eras received from Franklin
Brooks, attorney for Liss. Yicoletta °erciasepe , concerning her arrest.
The letter claimed X1,000 damages for false arrest® The ClErk was
directed to reply that the Board.. feels that it e:.-pressed its position
in its previous action in this natter taken at its meeting on sa,Dril 49
1935, ,nccn the Board by resolution unanii�lously approved of a report
by the Torah Attorney in which he stated that in his opinion there is
no liability- on the part of the To,,rn in this matter.
The financial reports of the 3u,)ervisor for the month of
yune and for the six months ended June 309 19359 were received in a

consisting of 'himself and l.r® Griffin appointcd. a.t the meeting of the
Town Board on June 199 1935, to consider the proposed amendments to
the Zoning Ordinance of the To n as presented by the Board of Appeals.
He stated that the committee felt that the Board of appeals should
make -recommendations in -respect to these proposed araendrnentso -ne own
Board, unanimously approved the re_oort of this committee,
The Comptroller reported orally on the matter of the claims
of -Waiter R. I=arvin, Jr. for fees due him as Registrar of Vital Statistics
and also for compensation as Custodian of Voting Yachines , which. matter
had been referred to the Comptroller at the previous meeting'. fie stated
that he had studied, the claims and that they appeared, to be in order and
furthermore they were supported by a letter from the office of the State
Comptroller approving of their payrnent. ve accordingly recommended pay-
ment of the claims.

RESOLVED, that the claims of 'Ualter R. Larvin, Jr. for
fees due him as Registrar of Vital Statistics for the
years 1930 to 1934 inclusive in the amount of 'x314.2.5 and
for compensation as Custodian of Voting Lachines for the
years 1932 to 1934 inclusive in the amount of ;600.00, a
total swn of =;914.25 be and they hereby are approved
and ordered paid in accordance Frith the letter of I`Lr. Iiarvin
dated June 19 19359 which letter was presented to the Town
Board at its .neetingp on Jur_e 199 1935, in which he agrees
to reimburse the ''' oc�rn to the extent of ` 1,000 representing
salary paid him at the -rate of X500 per year for the years
1930 and 1931 for services rendered by him as Registrar of
Vital Statistics.
Superintendent of Highvays 3-Lerola reported on the complaint
Thi.ch had been received concerning the former Torn garbage dump near
Fifth Avenue , which matter had been referred to him at the previous meet-
ing. He stated that he had investigated the dump ; that it was covered
s,, ith an adequate amount of fill that he had observed no odors and that
no one ,was now duraping there .
A letter ,?as received from Thomas E. Parer of tamaronec'�
applying for position as Patrolman. The letter was referred to the
Police Commission.
A report dated .Tuly 1, 1935, eras received from Vito F. Luceno
of the Dep_ a-rtment of the Comptroller, stating that he had extended. the
Ta7 Rolls for the 1935-1936- Scheol Taxes for District o. 1 and District
Yo. 2 qnd setting forth the svmmaries thereof. The report -,,was placed
on file.
A letter dated July 5, 1935, STas received from Greenbaum,
!olff c, Ernst on behalf of their clients ;-`nna I. Coles and Ralph H. Blood,
in connection with the unpaid taxes on property known as Section 8,
Block 77 , Lots 69 7 , 8 and 9B. The letter was ordered laid over.

A letter dated July 15, 1935, was received from J. Henry lreale
of 28- iao1- ill Drive thanking the Torn Board for couiplyino ,, ith his
request that certain ere�aty lots on rple Kill Drive be cleaned up. "he

A letter dated July 1, 1935 , was received from Henry T. Hotchkiss ,
25 Coolidge Street, expressing his thanks for the action of the Board- in
installing a street light at the intersection of Harrison Drive and Palmer
Avenue Extension. The letter was ordered. filed.
A letter dated July 15, 1935 , was received from Wm. L. Callahan,
118 yt, Pleasant Avenue , complaining of treatment he had received at the
Public Welfare Office . The letter was -referred to Yr. Griffins
A letter dated July 16, 1935, was received from the hanaroneck
Lodge of =11s inviting the Town Board to attend a benefit baseball game
_ on July 21 , 19M. The invitation was accepted with thanRs and all members
who could do so were urged to be present.
A letter dated. July 11, 1935 , was received from `tillage Hanager
J. Nhitney of Hamaroneck concerning the surety bond of M. A. Boyd as
acting police Justice of the village of "-amaronect. The letter was re-
ferred to I_r. Brennan.
A letter dated Zone 21, 1955 , was received from Yr. H. Carl
Holpp, 20 Spruce Road, complaining of the condition of the sidewalk in
front of his property. Superintendent herola informed the Eoard that
subsequent to the receipt of this letter the sidewalk had been improved.
The letter yeas ordered filed.
A letter dated June 19 , 1935, was received from the Larchmont .
Federal Savings do Loan Association concerning unpaid taxes on property
known as Section 6, Block 659 Lots 54, 55 and 56. The letter was referred
to the Town Attorney.
A letter dated June 21, 1935 , was received from Orson A. Raynor
of 7dgewood Avenue , expressing his opposition to what he considered an
additional expenditure for garbage collection as set forth in a local
newspaper, occasioned by the proposed establishment of a garbage district.
'The Clerk was directed to inform Yr. Raynor that the Town Board is not
considering any proposal to change from the present method of garbage
collection.
A 'report of the activities of the Fire Department of the Town
for the first quarter of the fire year , namely; February 18, 1935, to
Kay 18, 1935, Pas -received. from Chief Richard B. leVino and -referred to
Hr. Brennan.
The Town Cleric reported that he had been notified by the State
Insurance und, the carrier of the Town 's workmen`s compensation insurance ,
that beginning September 1, 1935 , employers would be liable for certain
types of occupational diseases not hitherto covered by such insurance,
that he had accordingly written to the Yew `:Cork State Labor Department to
inquire as to their advice with respect to the best method of preventing
silicosis, which appeared to him to be the type of occupational disease
of most interest to the Town, and that the State Labor Department had
replied that in its opinion exposure from silicosis occasioned by the
normal activities of the Town 's various departments would be slight.
The Clerk recommended that since a number of the Town departments
are now submitting regular monthly -reports, it would be in order for the
Board to request all Town departments to submit such reports wherever
they would be of value . The Board tool, no action on the clatter.
Superintendent herola reported that he had been in conference
with l rs. Joan Guthrie of Valley Stream Road concerning the matter of her
property lying on both sides of Valley Stream. After discussion he was
requested to present an estimate of the cost of extending Talley Stream �
Road to Rockland Avenues
At 11:00 P. Y. the Board unanimously resolved to adjourn.
