Discussion commenced with regard to fund raising for the project at the intersection of Weaver Street and Murray Avenue. Councilwoman O'Flinn explained that after a promised Town donation, approximately $2,936.00 would be required to fund the project. Since $200.00 has already been gifted and an additional $650.00 has been pledged, the Committee must raise $2,086.00. Ideas for a fund-raising approach were suggested including the following: enclose a photograph of the present site with the letter, asking for specific dollar amounts ($10.00, $25.00, $50.00) and explain what type and how many plants they will pay for; include all the names of the Committee members; explain the projects that the Committee has already done and mention the County award; donors who give $100.00 and up will have their name mentioned on a plaque; give publicity to this project in the Town Newsletter, "On the Town", as well as local newspapers and neighborhood association newsletters. Kathy O'Flinn will investigate the number of addresses within the unincorporated area, the cost of postage and the possible format for a mailing. She will draft a letter for discussion at the next meeting. Spring plantings were discussed for the two islands on Murray Avenue and the other island on Forest Avenue. It was finally agreed that white begonias framed by a border of red begonias should be planted at each end of the islands. The red begonias have a dark burgundy leaf with a red flower (almost coral) and the white begonias have a light green leaf. junipers de coo° 060 \LESgonias egonias • -2- The Committee was also asked to give some thought to possible suggestions for trees which are to be planted along the Boston Post Road from Weaver Street to Rock Ridge Road in conjunction with a sidewalk and curb replacement program.
