The meeting commenced at 9:30 AM.
Councilwoman O'Flinn passed around a copy of a letter which was sent by
bar to Joanne Grossman of Larchmont Nurseries to thank her for her
estimate on our latest project.
A bill of $975 was also received from Cooper's Corner Nursery for the
shrubs, and ornamental grasses and labor performed at the Murray
Avenue/Weaver Street intersection. The Committee agreed that the total
cost of the project, which came in at approximately $1100 was
reasonable. The balance of the funds in the Beautification Trust Fund
would be used for other future projects.
Councilwoman O'Flinn read the proposed wording for the plaque which
will be ordered for installation at the site. It will read: "Plantings
contributed by the generous residents of the Town of Mamaroneck.
Special thanks to " The names of 30 contributors who gave $100 or
more will be listed on the plaque. It was suggested that the year
"1991" be added.
It was also mentioned that a maintenance memorandum should be prepared
for the projects that have been completed to date. This will be
discussed again at the next meeting.
The Committee then discussed ideas for future projects at the following
locations: Weaver Street bridge (especially the entrance to the
Ambulance Corps), the 2 lower Murray Avenue islands, the 2 Myrtle Blvd.
islands (in the Gardens), Rouken Glen island and Memorial Park (ethnic
gardens) . It was agreed that before the next meeting in January, each
Committee member would visit each of the above locations and then come
to the next meeting with suggestions for improvements. The Committee
will then decide on which projects it will proceed and give a priority
to each.

Jackie Loreio mentioned that Westchester Public Art is a group that
provides sculpture on loan to municipalities and she suggested that we
look into this as a possibility for one of our projects. She will get
the address of Adele Green who leads the group.
Two other maintenance items were mentioned. Peggy Perrin stated that
the Rockland Avenue bridge has a lot of graffiti lately and, while it
may not be in the Town, perhaps we could bring it to the attention of
Mamaroneck Village. Also Peggy explained that the curbing near her
home at 5 Rockland Avenue is badly in need of repair.
next meeting '11 be held in January.
