COiVMISSIONERS OF FIRE DISTRICT N0. 1 OF TIE TOWN OF DIA-
MARONECK, NEW YORK, hELD JUNE 13, 1939
At the Town Offices, 158 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, N , Y.
The meeting was called to order by the Supervisor at 4;30
Present: Supervisor h1cCulloch
Councilmen Bates, Griffin, Mandeville, Nleginn.iss
Absents None
The presence was also noted of Town Clerk Payne, Secretary
to the Board of Fire Commissioners, and Town Attorney Delius.
The Supervisor stated that he had received a request from
Pietro Abbate, owner of property known as Section 8, Block 93, Lot 8,
for permission to pay certain unpaid tax liens on the property with
interest computed at the rate of 6 per cent per annum.
On motion by Councilman TMeginniss, seconded by Councilman
Bates, it was unanimously
RESOLVED , that the Receiver of Taxes and Assessments
be and he hereby is authorized, empowered and directed
to accept payment of the following taxes on Section 8,
Block 93, Lot S. the liens for which are held by the
Town, in the face amount of the liens plus interest
computed at 6 per cent per annum;

Councilman Griffin presented a petition dated June 12, 1939 ,
received_ from the Assessor for the correction of the assessment roll
so as to permit the apportionment of taxes.
On motion by Councilman Griffin, seconded by Councilman
Bates, the foliovving resolution was unanimously adopted:
VI=EAS, the Assessor has presented a petition dated
June 12, 1939 for the correction of the assessment
roll for the year 1938, taxes of 1939, pursuant to
the provisions of Section 33 of Chapter 10b of the
Laws of 1916, as amended, known as the 'Nestchester
County 'Tax Act ; and
NH REAS, after due consideration this Board finds it
desirable to grant said petition for the correction
of said assessment roll;
NOW, =BEFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the assessment roll for the year 1938,
taxes of 1939, which shows property now appearing on
the roll as follows:

Councilman Griffin presented a petition dated June 131 1939,
received from the Assessor for the correction of the assessment roll
so as to permit the apportioment of taxes .
On motion by Councilman Griffin, seconded by Councilman Bates,
the following resolution was unanimously adopted:
XIIEREAS, the Assessor has presented a petition dated
June 13, 1939 for the correction of the assessment
roll for the year 1936, taxes of 1939, pursuant to
the provisions of Section 33 of chapter 105 of the
Laws of 1916, as amended, Imoir,rn as the I'Vestch.ester
County Tax Act; and
ilHEREAS, after due consideration this Board finds it
desirable to grant said petition for the correction
of said assessment roll;

RESOLVED, that the assessment roll for the year 1938,
taxes of 1939, which shows property now appearing on

The Town Attorney reported that he had received a letter
from Munn Brewer, Esq. , counsel for the Village of Mamaroneck in a
condemnation proceeding entitled "`Village of Dlarnaroneck vs. Rascheff,
which stated that MIr. Brewer was prepared to deliver to the Town of
Mamaroneck a check of the Village of Mamaroneck for X120.50, being
the balance of the amount to which the Town is entitled for taxes upon
the property condemned and for which judgrnent was directed in an order
entered by Ptlr. Justice Nclan on ivlarch 15th 1939, upon receiving a
satisfaction of said judgment .
The Town Attorney presented a satisfaction of judgment which
he had prepared and upon .potion duly made and seconded, the Supervisor
was authorized to sign and execute such satisfaction and the Town Clerk
directed to attach the seal of the Town.
The Supervisor read the following letter which he had re-
ceived from Chief William V. I\IcCarthy, Jr. of the Fire Department:

Dear Pair, McCulloch;
A meeting of the Fire Council was held this evening at
Fire Headquarters at .which the results of the referendum were dis-
cussed and the following resolution was unanimously adopted.:
VVPERHAS, the present Hook and Ladder 'Truck and
Engine No . 1 are inadequate and a menace to the
Life and Property of the citizens of the Fire
District and also endangers the life of the drivers
and Volunteer Firemen,
THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Fire Council

Town Board of the Town
action to furnish the
and adequately protect
BE IT FURTH R RESOLVED:
of the Fire Department of the
unanimous vote demand that the
of `Mamaroneck, take immediate
equipment necessary to properly

That because of the emergency created, that the Town
Board hold a special session to act upon this resolution.

Following some discussion on the above letter, Councilman
Griffin presented and read two letters dated June 10 and June 12
respectively and received from Henry M. Hildebrand, 1Jlanager of the
Larchmont Central Garage. Mr. Hildebrand stated that at the request
of the Town he had personally, with the assistance of mechanics, made
a thorough inspection and road test of Pumper No. 1 and Hook and Ladder
Truck No. 2 of the Town of Viamaroneck Fire Department. He submitted
his report and made certain recommendations.
Following a lengthy discussion during which it was pointed
out that a meeting of the Fire Council was to be held during the
evening, it was decided that Councilmen lAeginniss and Nlande-ville and
Town Attorney Delius attend the Council meeting to confer with the
members of the Fire Council.
At 5: 55 P . M. the Board unanimously resolved to adjourn.
