Kevin Keelan Laura :-agland , Wayne Sternemann.
Meeting was called to order at 8 :09 p.m.
Introduction of new members was followed by a report by the Town
of mamaroneQk Fire Dept. Chief our local fire codes , inspection
procedures and limitations were discussed.
Discussion of a date for a public forum type of meeting was brief,
sometimes in March or April was the earliest that council members
thought it would be feasible to present ourselves publicly. This a
matter will be taken up again at our next regular meeting.
Our most immediate task is to inform tenants of their rights and
the procedures to be used to obtain those rights. There was a
15-20 min. discussion on this matter since the council deemed it
top priority. All members were asked to return with specific
suggestions for a printing which should be done sometime in early
1985. (January preferably.
Volunteers for position of secretary were asked for. None were
forthcoming. Chairman will wait , ask again at the beginning of
the next meeting. If there is no response at that time she ;VILL
assign the job, on a rotating basis.
questions to be forwarded to Council' s attorney included the
following. 1 ) how long do residents have to pay for capital
imporvements to the property?
2 ) is there a binding contract that can be made
between tenants and landlords so that these amounts are not
added on to base rents and payments will stop when the land-
lords debt is paid?
3 ) are tenants responsible for landlords interst
payments on fees on such contracts?
4) a more detailed definition of a Capital improve-
ment was also called for. Just what can be covered under such
a title?

NOTE : It was decided at this meeting that the Council would have a
maximum number of 9 voting members. Mrs. C. Silverstone and Mr. J.
Herrmann are ex-officio , non-voting, liason and legal advisor,
respectively.
