Caroline Silverstone said the Town is currently operating under the state code which calls for heat when the outside temperature falls below 55° . Wayne Sternmann in- dicated that the Village of Larchmont is regulated by the revised New York State Uniform Fire Code and he will obtain a copy of same. Laura Ragland brought up the question of whom to call in the absence of the superintendent in the event of an emergency in any of the buildings. If such an emergency happened at night, it would be wise to call the respective fire depart- ment. If during business hours, tenants in the Town should contact William Paonessa and those in the Village Fred Kellogg. Ms. Ragland believed that 17 N. Chatsworth Avenue had a 24 hour number to call. Kevin Keelan questioned whether that was an actual fact. Leah Fletcher will prepare a list of agencies to be contacted for repairs, etc. and the areas they cover. Caroline Silverstone wondered whether the Town or Village Police Departments had the phone numbers of responsible persons to call in the event of a real emergency in any of the apart- ment buildings. Wayne Sternmann advised that building superintendents must leave a phone number with the Larchmont Village Fire Depart- ment where they can be reached. Also, the Village Fire De- partment has keys to open outer doors of the various buildings. He suggested that the fire department be called if there is any problem, even though it might turn out to be minor. The possibility of issuing a monthly tenants' bulletin was dis- cussed briefly. If this should be done, Elaine Samuels would like mention made of available community services. Leah Fletcher suggested we keep on hand material needed for certified mail in the event any tenant required same and was -2- Minutes - Meeting December 17, 1984 unable to get to the post office. It is her hope that the Tenants' Council members can gain the confidence of the older tenants so that they will not hesitate to demand their rights. Mrs. Fletcher spoke to Supervisor Battalia' s secretary and arranged for a phone number to be available for tenants' calls during business hours at the temporary Town offices on Ward Avenue. This number, 698-3790, will also appear on our stationery. Elaine Samuels has advised Mrs. Fletcher that there are people available in her office to help tenants in filling out any forms. A tentative date of March 21, 1985 was set for the holding of a public forum. It is hoped that a panel of experts from the Town and Village will be on hand to answer questions. Inquiries will be made as to the availability of the Senior Center on Larchmont Avenue for this occasion, as well as the possible use of the Senior Citizen bus to transport tenants to the forum. The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 14, 1985 at 8 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 10 p.m. Dorothy B. Johnson
