Y. 10538 2 RECEIVED .,.Ka_ k JUN 24 1986 rA DiCI(1 e Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the Corporation {, asm May 29, 1986 - - - - 400 The Annual Meetingwas called to�o, �by Ruth Call to Order Santos, Chairman, at the Larchmont Village Center at 8:10 p.m. Also present were _ : Paul Kean, Mary Ellen Wallace, Kelly Kingham, Nick Marsh, Jason Kaufman, Bill Reilly, Mark Levy, Lee Korchin, Brigitte Dickinson, Alice Model, Nancy Sahlein, Nancy Tepley, Susan Vieser, Janet Walker, Sandy Constabile, Mary Savage, Bob Reynolds and Judy Zern. Ruth announced the death of Marguerite Rosenberg. Minutes The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as circulated. Treasurer Nancy Tepley reported a balance in the checking account of $1, 484.97 and in the savings account account of $656. 85, for total funds of $2, 141.82. Annual Report Ruth read has Annual Report. High School Nick Marsh reported the success of the recent Carnival at the High School. It will become an annual event. Seniors will work on the Senior Mural June 7 and contribute shrubs and benches in memory of Joe Markowitz. Class elections are June 4. Safe Rides Jason Kaufman reported everything is going well. Members competed in the Readers ' Digest Scholar- ship Contest and won a 3rd place scholarship of $4, 000. Safe Rides will not run over the summer and will resume in the fall. Teen Place Kelly Kingham said the teen hangout will be patterened after The Cafe in Greenwich and will be open Friday nights. It is hoped they will get use of space at St. Thomas ' Church. Children Corner Sandy Constabile announced receipt of a $10, 000 grant from N.Y. State. Their fundraiser has so far netted $1, 000. Children 's Corner is now taking registration for next year, will be able to keep the same hourly fees next year and plans to run the kindergarten program four afternoons next year. Minutes of the Annual Meeting - May 29, 1986 Youth Advocate Bill Reilly feltthat between the homeless and the growing substance abuse, we are fighting an uphill battle. Mark Levy suggested the need to keep up a many-faceted approach and ongoing efforts. SAFE Mary Savage said it is difficult to measure the precise effect of April Awareness Month since the hope was to get people to examine their own attitudes. Summer Theater Alice Model reported that La-Ma Summer Theater has received financial support from all three munici- palities. With a new staff, they will rehearse at Sts. John & Paul Church and present Godspell in August. By-Laws A motion was passed to accept changes to the By-laws. Election of The slate of officers for 1986-87 was read and a Officers motion was passed that they be elected. Community Coun- The Counseling Center received a small grant to seling Ctr. hire a part-time staff member to assist their heavy case load. They deal with any and all problems of 12-26 year olds. Sunshine Fund A $5 donation was requested from members to cover the cost of flowers when needed. Announcements - A community forum on the homeless will take place Thursday, June 5, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the new Town Center. Participation is encouraged. - Mary Ellen Wallace announced that the Senior Bazaar is being planned for a date in October to be announced. - Paul Kean announced a slide and question program on County services and facilities on June 4 in the Larchmont Village Center. Appreciation A plant, a token of our appreciation, was given to Ruth Santos with great thanks from the entire community.
