Minutes of CFY Meeting, February 12, 1987
Members present: Judy Call, Nancy Teply, Nancy Sahlein, Betty McSherry, Ruth Santos,

Paul Kean, Mark Levy, Brigitte Dickinson.
Nancy Teply gave her treasurer's report: 5434.58 (SAFE) t- 5582.71 = Total: 51017.29.
We need to file an income tax report, because more than 525,000 are involved. This is
because CFY is the umbrella organization for Children's Corner, Safe Rides, SAFE and
OASTS. CFY itself runs on about $100 per year.
At this meeting Bill Reilly described his job of Youth Advocate:
The idea for the position began in 1980, through CFY. The funding was from the
County, starting at 57 ,.--58,000, and going up to 59,000. The Teen Center was begun, and
later relocated to Hommocks, which saved money. Single parent concerns were addressed,
and Parents Without Partners was formed.
Bill has taught in the Mamaroneck school system for 26 years, and as a P.E. teacher,
is known to the students, who feel free to approach him. Parents also know him, and often
call him at any time of day or night for emergencies and other problems. Many problems
^Ne referred to Mark Levy at the Community Counseling Center, and there is much support
Dm the Youth Officers and the school counselors. He participates in Children's Corner,
OASIS, Safe Rides, runs Town summer recreation programs, visits the high schools after his
day of teaching 5 classes at Hommocks, runs the Teen Center and Open House programs, and
even deals with scheduling soccer fields. He does this for the love of the kids in the
community. He establishes dialogue with those in need, and then follows through, with
community support and referrals.
Mark Levy discussed the problems from the view of the Community Counseling Center. He
feels more kids have problems than in the past.
Ruth Santos asked for help with ideas for Families Together. Should we continue it?
Safe Homes: Should we continue to send out lists? Should we continue the program?
Mary Savage will head the Nominating Committee for next year's officers.
Assemblyman Tocci will be invited to come in April or May to address CFY.
Alice Model said that there will be a summer theater this year.
Mark Levy said that the Community Counseling Center has a one year grant for a therapist
for parent/family work, due to the efforts of Assemblyman Tocci.and Senator Oppenheimer,
and we should call on her if we have a need.
Parents of learning disabled students have been meeting together in the individual schools.
A lot of people have expressed interest.
If we are confronted with a suicide emergency, we should call the Suicide Hotl4 . ► . _n
