BOX 416, LARCHMONT, NY 10538 CO JUL 13 1981 MINUTES OF CFY MEETING, JUNE 1 1 , P. M. Present : Mary Ellen Wallace, Judy Call , Nancy Sahlein , nc : Teply, Suzanne Roninger , Ruth Santos, Anne Martin , Bill 4 0 Ann Tannen , Lee Korchin , Benita Marks , Brigitte Dickinson , Shelly Levin Treasurer 's report : $3=4 592 $926 Total , SAFE and CFY • Judy Call read the annual report of CFY. The report was so inclusive, that it was felt that copies should be made available to the communilty, to show what CFY does. Shelly Levin reported on the Children 's Corner: They are now licensed , and are working on getting not- for-prcfit only status. Teens from Hommocks and the High School are wort.:ing as volunteers, and the mix of different ages as' well as schools gives the program a family feeling. Grant funds have been reduced , and fund raising is a problem. More emphasis should be given on the need for scholarship money, so donors will know that their money is going to those in need. Ann Tannen reported on SAFE RIDES: F•.ids mainly want to work on SAFE RIDES to prevent tragedy, and there are aboe t 90 kids involved. High School seniors went to Hommocks classes to urge the children not to drink alcohol , and are urging 9t`. and 10th graders to abstain also. 250 students are me,T:oers of -:ADD (students against drunk drivers) . Funding is a problem, and so is getting enthusiastic adult volunteers. Benita Marks reported on OASIS: OASIS has been very successful , including the one evening for adults, but funding is a problem (the theme for this meeting) . It is an expensive program, because of the need for equipment , 2 paid adults, and food for student volunteers (who sometimes work for 10 hours in as row) . St. Thomas ' Church has been very hospitable, charging only for winter heat. , but a smaller room would be more inviting , and a quiet area is needed. If 100 kids come , the evening pays for itself , but if there are fewer , it loses mone, . Mary Ellen Wallace said that many Seniors have moved away. and we should encourage others to come to the Senior Center . Gifts of appreciation were given to Sandy Constabile, Judy Call and Shelly Levin of Children 's Corner , Ann Tannen of Safe Rides, and Benita Marks of OASIS. The next meeting will be in September or October. Respectfully submitted , Brigitte Dickinson , Secretary
