NEXT :MEETING: ir1ARCH 31 riinutes of CFY meeting on February 25, 1988, 8:00 pm, Village Center The meeting was called to order by co-chairperson, Nancy sahlein, at 8:05 p.m. Attending were: Judy Call, .nary Ellen Wallace, Eleanor Dreyfus, Susan Vieser, Judy Gern, Lee Korchin, Bob Reynolds, Frank Stilo, Suzanne Roniger, Ruth Santos, Ann Tannen, Bill Reilly, Alice Eodel, :.ary Savage, Caroline Silverstone. . Nancy reported that Delores Battalia is thinking about establishing a Youth Council to commemorate the Year of the Child in 1989. Ruth Santos said that she and Benita Aarks and Eary Savage were in the process of evaluating the programs in existence for the youth of our communities -- to clarify and identify any duplicate services. Our problem is that we're fragmented, with three separate communities to coordinate. we offer many of the same programs as Rye, but we are organized differently. A report will be forth- coming. Frank Stilo informed us that he was told by Ron Tocci that there is some money available for community projects concerning drug and alcohol education and abuse. Frank stressed the importance of addressing house parties and teen-age drinking as increasing problems in our community. The police need the cooperation of parents. Nancy told us about a questionnaire mailed to senior citizens in Scarsdale to access their unmet needs. Eleanor Dreyfus emphasized seniors' need for transportation. The nominating committee for next year will consist of Ruth Santos, ;nary Savage, Judy Zern and one additional member. Mary Ellen Wallace reported that the Senior Center has a new director, and is offering daily meetings, trips to Atlantic City and parties. Caroline Silverstone reiterated the need for us to find our own solutions to the need for a youth advocate-type position. we have the Community Counseling Center which provides man benefits to the community. Delores Battalia asked her to mention the need for a Chairperson for the Year of the Child '89. Alice Aodel announced that the Summer i'iusic Theatre will operate again this year with the same staff at Sts. John and Paul. Committee on the Arts is planning a Street Fair in i•iay offering crafts, sworddancers, early American instruments, etc. -2- February 25, 1988 Bob Reynolds announced that the Town of Aamaroneck PBA and Recreation Dept. are having a Family Night at Hommocks Ice Rink on Friday, Aarch 18, at 7:30-10:30 pm with free resident skating, hot dogs and live music. Bill Reilly said that announcements were sent home with Hommocks students regarding the closing of the Weaver Street bridge on Tuesday, riarch 1. Caroline Silverstone reported that the walk phase at the intersection of Chatsworth, Aurray and myrtle will be shortened. A discussion of the need for repaving some area streets followed. She also emphasized the impor- tance of locking doors and windows in light of recent burglaries. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm. Respectfully submitted, Susan Vieser, Secretary
