HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933_09_01 Town Board Minutes 127 MINUTES OF A SPECI.IAL MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD TOWN OF MAMARONECK, NEW YORK held September 1st, 1933 At the Town Offices, 118 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, N. Y. The meeting was called to order by the Supervisor at 4 P. M. Present : Supervisor Burton Justices Boyd, Leeds and. Burbank. Town Clerk Marvin The Clerk advised the Board that the designation of polling places in the several election districts was in order, the date of September Ist in each year being set by law for that purpose. Upon motion by the Clerk,, seconded by Justice Leeds, it was, u_bon roll call unanimously RESOLVED that in accordance with the provisions of Article 66 of the Election Ww, being Chapter 17 of the Consolidated Laws of the State of New York .as amended, the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck hereby designates the place in each election district in the Town at which the meetings for the registration of voters and elections and primaries shall be held in the year following the ensuing first day of October. The Board thereupon proceeded to sign 'a certificate to the above effect. A letter dated August 24th was received from the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen `s Association inviting the Town Board to attend its Field Day on Harbor Island on September 10th. The invitation was accepted with thanks and all members who could do so were urged to attend. A letter dated August 19th in regard to the appointment of an X. R. A. Committee of five members from the Unincorporated Section of the Tom of Mamaroneck was received from Platt K. Wiggins, Chairman of the Westchester County N. R. A. Committee. The letter was. ordered referred to the. Supervisor. A letter dated August 11th from Doctor Nicoll, Commissioner of the County Health Department and one dated August 15th from the State Department of Health, both addressed to the Supervisor, were received in regard to the garbage dump of the Town of Mamaroneck and the construction of an incinerator. After discussion, it was upon motion duly made by Justice Leeds, seconded by Justice Burbank, unanimously RESOLVED, that the Supervisor appoint a new committee to investigate thoroughly and promptly the matter of a garbage incinerator. The Supervisor thereupon appointed to this committee Justices Leeds, Boyd and Bur�)ank. The Clerk advised the Board that a claim had been received _ for the premium on a constable 's bond for William J. Yarmy who was heretofore appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Constable Thomas. The Clerk s.tated .that there was no appropriation in the budget for this purpose and suggested that the claim be paid from unappropriated miscellaneous ree'eipts. Upon motion by the Clerk, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was upon roll call unanimously RFSOLVTD,WHTRFAS William J. Yarmy was heretofore appointed Constable to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Constable Andrew Thomas; and W17RFAS the 1933 budget contained no appropriation to pay the cost of the surety bond required by Law for Constables; and WHEREAS it is mandatory that Constable Yarmy be bonded; and WHFRFAS there is an unanticipated surplus in the account for Miscellaneous Revenues, now therefore , be it RESOLVBD, that there be set up and established in the appropriation account of Miscellaneous Expenditures, an appropriation in the sum of $5*00 for Constablers bond, and that this amount be paid from unanticipated Miscell- aneous Revenues and that the Supervisor be and he hereby is directed to record this transfer on the books of record in his office. 4x40 P.
