MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD
TGWU OF 1vAMARONECK, N. Y.
held August 17th, 1932
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at
Present: Supervisor Burton
Justices Boyd, Leeds, Kessersmith and Burbank
Town Clerk Marvin
The presence was also noted of Counselor Ralph A. Gamble.
The regular order of business was suspended in order to
hear Mr. Joseph. Merea$ante and his attorney, Mr. J. Lester Albertson,
of New Rochelle who desired to address the Board.
Mr. Albertson advised the Board that Mr. Mercadante had
made a deposit of x:5,000. to cover the cost of the installation of
water mains in the improvement of Maple Hills, Part 2, with the
understanding that when the revenues from these mains resulted in
an adequate return to the Town, the deposit would be refunded. He
stated that such a return was now being secured and requested the
return of the money.
After discussion the matter was referred to Counsel for
investigation and report back to the Board with power to consult.
with Engineer Foote, if necessary, in order to secure any data and
facts needed.
A communication dated August 3rd was received from the
Board of Education, Union Free School District No. 1, Town of Ma-
maroneck, requesting that the Town take action to rectify, if pos-
sible, the contrition resulting from the automobile graveyard on
Palmer Avenue across from the high school property.
Counsel advised the Board that this matter had previously
oxen referred to him and that he hoped soon to have the condition
remedied.
The communication was received and ordered placed on file
and the Cleris directed to notify the Boara of Education of Counsel's
report.
The report of the Town Clerk for the month of July was
ordered received and placed on file.
The report of the Supervisor for the 7 months ending July
31st, was received and ordered spread upon the minutes.

The Clerk advised the Boara that he had oeen requested by
Chairman E. J. Brewer of the Building Commission that it was in order
for the Board formally to reappoint Mrs. Violet D. McGivney as
Secretary to the Building Commission t.c serve at the pleasure of the
]hoard, beginning January 1st, 1932, at a compensation of $3.00 per
meeting.
Upon motion by the Clerk, seconded by Justice Messers:iith,
it was upon roil call unanimously
R7SOL77D, that upon the recoInmenuation of the
Building Commission, Mrs. Violet D. McGivney be
and she hereby is reappointed Secretary to the
Building Commission to serve at the pleasure of
the Board beginning January let, 1932, at a
compensation of :;03.00 per meeting.
Counselor Gamble advised the Board that he had been requested
by Kajor Franklin Brooks of Larchnont tc bring before tine Town Board
the matter of a continuation of the audit of the records and accounts
of the Town of Mamaroneck from January 1st, 1930, the point of begin-
ning of the recent audit ,y the office of the State Comptroller, back
to January 1st, 1916.
After discussion, upon motion oy Justice Messersmith,
seconded by Justice Bcya, it was unanimously
RiSOLVID, that the request of hajor Franklin Brooks be
receivea and Lala on the table penning the receipt of
the report of the audit recently completed by the
Office of the State Comptroller and that the State
Comptroller oe reouestau to furnish this Boara lith a
.copy of tris report as soon as possible.
At 9:35 the Board unanimously resolved to recess to meet
again at the call of the chair to take up such matters as might properly
come before it.
