HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932_03_25 Town Board MinutesRECESSED MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD TOWN OF MAM.ARONE'CK, N. Y. held March 25th, 1932. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 5:10 P. M. Esser. Present: Supervisor Burton Justices Boyd, Leeds, Messersmith and Burbank Deputy Town Clerk Jacobs The presence was also noted of Special Counselor J. Henry After informal discussion the meeting recessed. At 8 o'clock the meeting duly reconvened. The resignation of Santo Lanza as Receiver of Taxes which was this day filed in the office of the Town Clerk was presented to the Board by the Deputy Town Clerk and read. Upon motion by Justice Boyd, seconded by Justice Leeds, it was RESOLVED, that the resignation: of Santo Lanza as Receiver of Taxes of the Town of Mamaroneck be spread upon the minutes and the Board proceed to fill the vacancy. A vote being taken upon the above resolution resulted as follows: Ayes: Burton, Boyd, Leeds, Messersmith and Burbank Noes: hone. The chair declared the resolution duly adopted. The resignation reads as follows: Mamaroneck, N. Y. March 25th, 1932. Waiter R. Marvin, Jr., Esq. Town Clerk, Town, of Mamaroneck & Elm Street Mamaroneck, N. Y. Dear Sir: In accordance with the provisions of Statute, I hereby resign as Receiver of saxes of the Town of Mamaroneck and file this resignation with you to take effect immediately. Dillon be and he hereby is appointed Receiver of Taxes of the Town of Mamaroneck to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Santo Lanza and that the members of the Town Board here present, under their hands and seals, execute and cause to be filed in the office of the Town Clerk an instrument as provided by statute, making said appointment to fill the vacancy in the office of the Receiver of Taxes. 133 A vote being taken upon the foregoing resolution resulted as follows: Ayes.- Burton, Boyd, Leeds, Yessersmith and Burbank Noes: None The Chair declared the resolution duly adopted. The instrument follows: A vacancy in the Office of the Receiver of Taxes of the Town of Mamaroneck having been created by the resignation of Santo Lanza, the undersigned, constituting a majority of the members of the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck hereby appoint Henry R. Dillon to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of the said Santo Lanza, the said Henry R. Dillon to hold :the.office of the Receiver of Taxes of the Town of Mamaroneck as provided by statute, and hereby file this appointment in the office of the Town Clerk. GEO. W. BURTON L. S. <VM. A. Upon motion by Justice Boyd, seconded by Justice Burbank,, it was RESOLVED, that the amount of bond which shall be required of Henry R. Dillon as Receiver of Taxes is hereby fixed at $50,000. which amount together with Employers' Liability Assurance Corporation, Limited, as surety, is hereby approved. Upon motion by Justice Leeds, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was RESOLVED, that the salary of Henry R. Dillon,as Receiver of Taxes, be and the same hereby is fixed for the remainder of the year 1932 at the rate of $6,750. a year, upon the understanding that the said Receiver shall pay out of said salary a deputy at the rate of $20750. a year. A vote being taken upon the foregoing resolution resulted as follows: Ayes: Burton, Boyd, Leeds, Messersmith and Burbank Noes: None The Chair declared the resolution duly adopted. Upon motion by Justice Boyd, seconded by Justice Burbank, it was resolved W= AS, Henry R. Dillon has ceased to act as Deputy Receiver of Taxes under Santo Lanza, Resigned,'and the said Henry R. Dillon has been appointed to fill the -- vacancy caused by the resignation of said Santo Lanza, RESOLVED, that the Employers' Liability Assurance Corp- oration Limited, is hereby released from all further lia- bility under its bond No. 13085 heretofore given for the said Dillon, as Deputy Receiver of Taxes,_ upen.the under- standing that credit will be ginn for the unearned portion of the premium under said bond. A vote being taken upon the foregoing resolution resulted as follows: Ayes: Burton, Boyd, Leeds, Messersmith and Burbank Noes: None The chair declared the resolution duly adopted. Upon motion by Justice Messeremith seconded by Sustice Burbank, it was follows: RESOLVED, that Henry R. Dillon, Receiver of Taxes, shall deposit daily to the credit of the Town of Mamaroneck, all the taxes, assessments and penalties received by him, in the Larchmont National Bank & Trust Company of Larchmont, New Ycrk, which bank has heretofore been designated by the Supervisor. A vote being taken upon the foregoing resolution resulted as Ayes: Burton, Boyd, Leeds, Messersmith and Burbank Noes: None The chair declared the resolution duly adopted. After taking his oath of office, Mr. Henry R. Dillon, Receiver of Taxes, addressed the Board and expressed his appreciation for the honor bestowed upon him and assured the Board that he would do all in his power to carry on the work in the Tax office in an efficient and diligent manner. At 9:35 P. M. the Board unanimously resolved to recess to meet again at the call of the chair to take up such matters as might properly come before it. Depot
